NBA DFS: Targets for 1/27
It’s another huge 10-game slate like Wednesday, which gives us a sigh of relief after yesterday’s dismal 4-game slate. There are a few difficult situations to consider tonight. The Cleveland Cavaliers are the favorite with a spread of -15 1/2 against the Nets. Trevor Booker has just been ruled out, and we can’t be sure of any lasting effects that LeBron James‘ comments will have on the team. Same goes for the Chicago Bulls, where there is turmoil amongst the team as well. At this moment, it’s hard to say if you can totally fade both of these games, but if you need to build a lineup right now with thoughts of editing it later, I wouldn’t blame you for that approach.
Also, here’s something fun and interesting on FanDuel! It’s the Switcheroo slate, where centers are slotted in the shooting guard position, and that’s how they’re letting us play two centers in a slate. Pretty cool, considering how gross the shooting guard position can be at times.
Giannis Antetokounmpo (MIL @ TOR)
FanDuel: $10,300 (SG)
DraftKings: $10,000 (PG/SF)
Against a DeMar DeRozan-less lineup, I really like ABC tonight as a guy to pay up for. On a slate with so many games and lots of questions to go with it, he is a safe target. His per 36 stats from last season to this current season are impressive and what’s scary for his opponents is that he’s still improving. ABC’s price has been dropping slightly, but that shouldn’t alarm you. In fact, this is when you want to take advantage of his salary.
Dennis Schroder (ATL vs. WAS)
FanDuel: $6,700 (PG)
DraftKings: $6,400 (PG)
Schroder’s been reaching 5x value over the last four games, and could the mid-salary guard or point guard to target. The Hawks are a small favorite (-3 1/2), against the Wizards, in a game that should be competitive throughout. Schroder’s been pretty solid lately and a lot of it is attributed to his increase in assists, with 25 in his last three games. If Schroder can keep this up, he’ll put up great fantasy points for us in what should be one of the higher paced games of the night.
Norman Powell (TOR vs. MIL)
FanDuel: $4,200 (SG)
DraftKings: $4,600 (SG/SF)
DeRozan has already been ruled out and Powell has been the main benefactor of his absence. His price has certainly jumped up, especially on DK but he should still make the value you need. The Raptors faced the Spurs and Grizzlies, both of which Powell started and he scored at least 29 fantasy points in each. The Bucks aren’t either of those teams defensively, and as long as Powell gets the minutes, he should be fine.
Kyle Korver (CLE vs. BKN)
FanDuel: $3,600 (SG)
DraftKings: $4,000 (SG/SF)
I admit, I’m having a hard time deciding on how I feel about this game. Our thoughts should clear up closer to lock, but for now, I’m staying away from paying up for players in this one. Korver has seen more than 20 minutes in the last seven games. With how the Cavs have been playing lately, and how the Nets find themselves keeping games close at times, I’m leaning towards Korver to be the guy who will be more involved if/when the starters sit. At times I hear some saying they won’t play a guy who doesn’t start, but not starting a game doesn’t mean a player can’t/won’t make their value. Korver is $100 above the minimum but more on DK. Sure, he doesn’t reach value at times but if you need salary relief, you can get it here.
Dwight Howard (ATL vs. WAS)
FanDuel: $7,100 (C)
DraftKings: $6,700 (C)
No, I’m not going back to Mason Plumlee because of the matchup. Howard feels too cheap, but I think there are people who won’t take advantage of his price and he’ll go lower owned. He’s gotten back on track after having a few bad games. Howard has a double-double in each of his last three games which is a plus on DK for the extra 1.5 bonus points.
