NBA DFS: Targets for 1/25

(Getty Images)

We have an exciting 10-game slate for NBA DFS tonight! Hopefully, there won’t be any late scratches so close or after lock time. With 20 teams playing, it can get difficult to construct a lineup. Always remember what’s worked best for you in the past and apply the same method and thinking. Don’t let a big slate overwhelm you and zero in on the plays you like best.

The plays:

Stephen Curry (GS @ CHA)

FanDuel: $8,900 (PG)

DraftKings: $8,500 (PG)

It’s a homecoming narrative for Curry tonight in Charlotte, and I’m sure the Warriors are motivated to decisively win one after their loss to the Heat. Kemba Walker is battling an illness, but is still expected to play. This should boost the matchup in Curry’s favor if Walker is not feeling 100% by game-time. I would still expect Curry to make value tonight, regardless of Walker’s status.

Goran Dragic (MIA @ BKN)

FanDuel: $7,000 (PG)

DraftKings: $7,300 (PG)

Price and opponent considered, Dragic could be one of the highest-owned point guards for the night. The Nets are giving up 64.1 points per game to guards for the season. The Heat are currently 22nd in pace in the NBA, with the Nets being at the top. With a game total of 215 and the Heat just a -4 favorite, this game should produce the fantasy points we need.

Dion Waiters (MIA @ BKN)

FanDuel: $6,000 (SG)

DraftKings: $6,600 (SG/SF)

Add on the reasons listed above for Dragic, and couple that with Tyler Johnson not making the road trip with the team because of a shoulder injury, and Waiters is once again in play. In the two games that Johnson has been out, Waiters had a usage rate of 37.8% and 30.8%. In these two games, Waiters also scored 33 points in each. He may look a bit pricey on DK tonight, but is a player that you need to consider.

Robert Covington (PHI @ MIL)

FanDuel: $5,400 (SF)

DraftKings: $5,600 (SF)

While many are looking at rostering Nerlens Noel tonight, Covington is worth a look as well. He’s played more than 31 minutes in his last four starts, with at least six rebounds and one block in each of those games. Covington has been exceeding his FD and DK value over the last three games, and with both Jahlil Okafor and Joel Embiid out tonight, he can certainly be a lower-cost target at the SF position.

Draymond Green (GS @ CHA)

FanDuel: $7,700 (PF)

DraftKings: $7,500 (PF)

Targeting Green is usually par for the course for most when skimming through NBA slates. But here we have him at his lowest prices in about three weeks. Also, there is some uncertainty with the Hornets’ front court, as Cody Zeller and Frank Kaminsky are both questionable. While the Hornets as a team are ranked sixth in the Association in defensive rating, they could slip a little with one or both of them out. Green should be a sound target to make value tonight.

Mason Plumlee (POR vs. LAL)

FanDuel: $6,500 (C)

DraftKings: $6,200 (C)

I’m back to the well on Plumlee again, with a favorable matchup against the Lakers. He’s rosterable in this mid-salary range and can certainly keep up with his recent performances. The Lakers are giving up 44.3 total rebounds per game. Plumlee’s reached doubt digits in rebounds in his last three games and should be able to maintain that streak tonight.

Also take into consideration:

Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Anthony (NYK @ DAL) – on DK

FanDuel: $8,000 (SF)

DraftKings: $7,300 (SF)

Lou Williams (LAL @ POR) – preferably on FD

FanDuel: $5,700 (SG)

DraftKings: $5,800 (SG)

Nerlens Noel (PHI @ MIL) – on both sites

FanDuel: $4,100 (PF)

DraftKings: $4,300 (PF/C)

Spencer Hawes (CHA vs. GS) – as a punt play on both sites if Kaminsky and Zeller are out

FanDuel: $3,700 (C)

DraftKings: $3,500 (PF/C)
