Week 13 Contrarian Plays on Draft Kings
I am going to change it up a bit this week. My plan for this week is to lay out 3 contrarian plays/stacks that I think are in for a big week. I have a feeling 1 or more of these guys will win someone a spot to a live final or make a millionaire out of somebody.
Last week if you ended up on Taylor Gabriel you were pretty happy, my goal for this article is to point out guys who’s ownership will be lower than it should be and you should capitalize. These won’t be as off the board as Taylor Gabriel though, that was crazy. The dude took 2 wr screens to the house, that never happens and isn’t likely to happen again.
My favorite GPP play of the weekend is Tevin Coleman 4300 facing off against the Chiefs at home. It has been a while since Coleman has really contributed in fantasy. But this is a guy who has homerun ability and gets a lot of chances near the goal line.
I have a feeling he breaks a long one this week and contributes 5 receptions in the passing game. If he gets you 20 or more at that price you are sitting pretty. This will also get you a very different roster construction from the guys paying up for Bell and DJ in the $9000 range. Coleman was 1% owned on Fantasy Aces Thursday lock.
I like pairing Coleman with Jeremy Hill to get a very cheap backfield, then throwing Julio in the same lineup. As a hole in tournaments I think fadeing DJ and Bell and paying up at receiver is a good contrarian plan for Week 13.
My #2 play is Cam Newton. Yep that’s a pretty big name, but he was less than 1% owned on the Fantasy Aces Thursday lock. His match-up on paper looks really hard and no one wants to roster guys on the road in Seattle. But at 6600 this is a guy with a huge ceiling and a decreased price. I like pairing him with Tedd Ginn and bringing it back with Jimmy Graham for a huge Sunday night hammer. If Newton goes off for 30 DK points and games like the Saints/Lions doesn’t shoot out to the degree people are predicting you will be sky rocketing up leaderboards.
My final play and my favorite stack includes my cover boy: Aaron Rodgers 6700/Jordy Nelson 7000/Deandre Hopkins 6000. Pricing is down on all 3 guys. No one has been more productive than A-rod over the past 6 weeks and everyone will be flocking towards Devante Adams in the Packers pass game.
Now don’t get me wrong, I love Devante, I think he is really talented despite his play last year and nothing he is doing this year is a fluke. But with his price down, his big island game on Monday, and the fact Jordy is still getting more targets, Jordy is my favorite wr play of the week. Jordy only had 3% ownership on FA Thursday lock, Adams was up to 11%. You add in Stefon Diggs was 16% around the same price as Devante and I think Adams will be in the 15-20% range this weekend. Jordy will be 5% or lower. Pair that with Rodgers 5% FA ownership and you have a nice little stack set to go off.
As I stated above I like to bring that back with Nuke. Nuke was only 2% owned in the FA Thursday lock, he has been terrible all year, and catches passes from Goofy. But with that said The Packers (though a bit healthier & semi improved) have been an absolute sieve in the secondary this year. Hopkins hasn’t had that breakout game, it has to come at some point, right? I like this play, Houston is going to have to pass and score to keep up with Green Bay, I see Nuke be the major beneficiary.
