NFL Week 10 Best Plays on Draft Kings
Week 10 already! Wow, can’t believe we are past the half way point. This really seems the point in the year where the majority of fantasy football players finally start adjusting their opinion on players from there preseason view.
In a season long league I’m in, a guy just traded Jarvis Landry straight up for Anquan Boldin. I know crazy, but I offered the same owner Spencer Ware for Landry back in week 2(he had Jamaal Charles) and he denied it.
This will also carry over to DFS. Allen Robinson’s ownership will not be what it was compared to where he was earlier in the season. Melvin Gordon is finally considered a stud, his ownership will no longer lag, same goes for Jay Ajayi.
These tendencies are great to take advantage of. Finding the “star” player who is off to a slow start or who has been underperforming will be very profitable going forward. Guys like Antonio Brown, Cam Newton, Todd Gurley, Brandon Marshall, and even Le’Veon Bell all fall in this catergory and should have a lower ownership than you would find in similar match ups earlier in the year.
This brings me to some of my favorite plays this week!
Cam Newton 6800, Ben Roethlisberger 6800, and Jay Cutler 5300 are 3 guys popping off the screen to me.
Both Newton and Ben are 2 guys who have underperformed and hurt owners over the past few weeks. Both are going home where their numbers are better and in spots where other owners might scare away.
Newton gets the Chiefs at home. The Chiefs are a good defense but have given up huge games to both Roethlisberger and Brees, plus decent games to Bortles and Luck. Cam has been queit for a few weeks, his defense is playing better making this a prime spot for a Cam explosion.
Ben will face the Cowboys at home. The Cowboys tend to play bully ball dominating the time of possession. Most owners know this and don’t like to play players that are against the Cowboys. This will lead to a nice low ownership for Ben. The only problem with that idea is the Cowboys have had passers throw at least 41 times in 5 different games this year. If Ben gets 40 throws, I will take that!
Also the Cowboys have given up a TD pass in every game this year, they are without 2 starting defensive backs, and Ben is 1 week healthier. I will not be a week late on Ben.
My cheap QB this week is Jay Cutler, I know gross but dude gets the Bucs. In the Bucs last 2 games 344/4td to Matt Ryan, 513/4td to Derek Carr. The Bucs are a true funnell defense. It is hard to run the ball against them. Cutler has the weapons in the passing game with Jefferey, Meridith, and Miller. Plus Eddie Royal should be back, I would fully expect 250/2 tds from Cutler, at 5300 this will more than pay off that price point.
David Johnson 8400, Melvin Gordon 7100, Todd Gurley 5300.
David Johnson baring injury is a lock for 25 DK points. Everybody gets 100+ rushing yards and smash touchdowns against the 49ers. The 49ers play fast and punt a lot, their opponets benefit with getting the ball so much more. Just lock him into your cash games.
My 2nd play for this week is Melvin Gordon. Until his price catches up to Zeke or Le’Veon, he is the play. The difference here is, he is much more involved in the passing game than Zeke and his touchdown upside is far and away better than Bell.
Like I said before until Zeke starts being targeted more and/or Bell starts getting in the endzone Gordon will be the better play. His volume is insane, his talent is finally being realized, and there is no one else around to take away his playing time.
My value play for this week right now is Todd Gurley. If Carlos Hyde doesn’t play again, I do like DuJuan Harris but for now I like Todd Gurley.
At 5300 you are getting a guy who should be getting volume. His carries were down the past couple weeks and Jeff Fischer has come out and said that needs to change. His carries should get back up to the 17-22 range plus his targets have been 5, 5, 4, 7, and 5 over the past 5 weeks. As long as that continues his value is definetely in the mid 6 range and we are getting him at 5300.
Another reason I really like Gurley is his real life talent. He is very talented, his offense is predictable, and this definetely holds him back, but he is one of the 5 most talented running backs in the league. This fact gives him the ability to go off. He has a real chance for a 200/2 td in any game really making this a nice GPP play.
One thing to watch with Gurley is he sat out practice both Wednesday and Thursday. I think he will be fine but keep an eye on his injury status heading into Sunday.
Alshon Jeffery 6600, Julian Edelman 6000, Dontrelle Inman 3400
There are fine plays at higher price points, don’t get me wrong and I will play some Evans, AB, OBJ, and others but this is definetely a week I see a lot of mid and low-tier value.
Jefferey will be one of my higher owned players this week. He has the same matchup I talk about above for Cutler. Tampa Bay has given up huge days recently to Julio, Crabtree, and Amari. Cutler largely locks on to Alshon and he finally broke into the endzone last week. Alshon seems like a 7500 receiver to me this week and getting him at 6600 seems like a steal.
Edelman’s numbers have been down this year. He hasn’t topped 100 yards at all and he only has 1 touchdown. On top of that Seattle is coming to town. I am willing to bet ownership will be really small on Edelman this week.
Now low ownership means nothing if a player isn’t going to perform, right? Well the proven way to attack Seattle is through the slot. They do a much better on bigger outside receivers. Plus a lot of attention will go to Gronk. Edelman has 35 targets over his past 4 games, this looks like a get right spot. I could see one of his classic 13 catch 2 td games here.
The last guy I want to touch on is Dontrelle Inman. At only 3400 this week he is in an offense putting up points. It looks like Travis Benjamin and Hunter Henry probably won’t play and Tyrell the Gazelle is banged up as well. The Chargers will still pass and Inman is looking like he will be the beneficiary. He had 9 targets last week catching 6 of them plus dropping a 7th in the endzone. This looks to be the value play of the week.
