NFL Week 6 Favorite DFS Plays
This week I am going to keep the list smaller. It is an overall hard week so far with very little value popping up. I think ownership overall will be much more spread out and the chalk will be harder to recognize. I am going to leave you with my 5 favorite players for this week.
#1 is Le’Veon Bell, I know… I really went out on a limb with this one. But to be honest Le’Veon will show up in at least 90% of my lineups this week. I don’t see any real reason to fade him. I play 100% on Draft Kings where it is a full PPR. His price tag is still reasonable at 7900 with his role in the offense.
Playing Bell is like playing a Top 5 RB and like the 20th best WR in 1 slot. The Steelers are very progressive on offense and are fully utilizing Bell’s unique talents. They aren’t Jeff Fishering him into 9 man boxes on 1st and 2nd down every possession. Bell is lining up in the slot, out wide, and obviously as a running back. His 9 receptions last week was probably higher than his projection but you can count on 5 every week with the way he is being used.
Against a very weak Miami Dolphins Defense giving up a league worst 150 yds/gm on the ground and 5th worst 401 total yards per game (thanks oddshark.com for the stats) expect Bell to dominate early and often.
On top of the bad defense I also take into the fact that Bell has been unlucky the last 2 weeks in not getting into the end zone despite 52 touches and 332 yards of total offense. He has scored 24 and 25 DK points without getting in the end zone. So if he can put up similar numbers and find his way to pay dirt 1-3 times, his raw score could be the best overall this week. He is the nuts play.
#2 Now I’m going to get a little more bold and contrarian. Jamaal Charles is my next guy. At 5100 on DK, coming off a bye and getting the Saints defensive cousin the Raiders. The Raiders are giving up a league worst 452 yards of total offense each week (122 ground/330 air).
Now I know JC has only played 10 snaps all year, but I have a very sneaky feeling this was their plan all along. Andy Reid noticed the early season bye week and was holding Charles back waiting to unleash him following the bye. Charles tweeted they are taking the training wheels off, so I expect a large dose of JC this week. I don’t think he will play 90% of the snaps like he used to, but at 5100 you will not need that from him.
I also don’t think they will waste a lot of between the tackle runs on JC, they will scheme him in space and maximize his talents with around 14-17 touches. With a healthy amount of those being on screens and swing passes. I am willing to bet Charles puts one of those in the end zone as well.
Andy Reid is a career 15-2 after the bye. Yes 15-2, odd are the Chiefs will come ready to play Sunday. Also take into note that Charles has been away from the spot light for a long time, recency bias is not on his side. People are still scared off by the knee, his ownership will be low and there isn’t much out there for “cheap” running backs this week. Fire up JC you won’t have this discount again, at least not this year.
#3 Jarvis Landry, coming off a 3 target game a lot of people aren’t going to this well again. At 6800 he is safe for cash and is still a PPR monster. Last week was an anomaly. I fully expect with Miami facing off against the high scoring Steelers they will have to pass a lot. Expect Landry to get back up to double digit targets.
Before last week he had 10 or more targets in 8 straight games. I trust that history much more than the very recent clunker the Dolphins gave us.
Watching a lot of Steelers games this year I have noticed they play a lot of zone forcing a lot of underneath coverages, or they blitz also forcing quick short passes. Both bode well for the slot man Landry. I wouldn’t be surprised if he had 15 targets this week.
#4 Travis Kelce 5000 and Jimmy Graham 4900. Yeah I know that’s two… The reason I am putting them both down is because I am using both in the same lineup quite a bit. There isn’t much for cheap wide receivers so I like the 2 tightened set up this week. It is always contrarian and both are in very nice spots.
Kelce faces the above Raiders D, I won’t rip them any further. Jimmy Graham gets the Falcons coming to town who give up a ton of passing yards themselves. Also the last 2 times the Falcons faced a half decent tight ends they gave up 7/109/1td to Coby Fleener and 6/76/1td to Greg Olsen. Atlanta gives up 290 yards through the air/game.
Graham coming off a bye should be fresh and be able to take advantage of a soft Falcon’s Defense. Graham suffered a horrific injury last year but has surprisingly bounced back well and looks like the dominant athlete he was with the Saints. In his last 2 games Graham has caught 6 passes for over 100 yards in each. That trend very well could continue.
#5 TyGod Taylor 5300 on DK. I am always a sucker for cheap QBs. This week there isn’t much value at Running Back and Wide Receiver so the $2k in savings you get with TyGod is useful.
Taylor gets a 49ers team traveling east and playing an early game. The 49ers have been decimated by injuries and there in ability to stay on the field on Offense gives opposing offenses tons of time to rack up fantasy points.
Taylor’s running back Shady McCoy will be very popular this week, so Taylor makes for a nice Leverage play off of Shady as well. Going “Naked” TyGod is a real nice play this week and is even in play for cash. If you want to pair TyGod with someone I like Charles Clay at 2900, then you can throw Graham in the flex and you have some real savings. That will give you some money to get 1-2 of the higher priced receivers, which will be a hard thing to do this week.
A couple last calls to think about. I like the idea of using Alshon Jeffrey at 7100 in GPPs. I think Cam Meredith will be the highest owned wr this week. Jeffrey will be a huge leverage play that is under 5% owned. Jeffrey hasn’t been great this year but at some point he will have a big game, against the Jags that is a very real possibility.
A stack I really like this week is with the Jaguars. Coming off a bye load up Bortles, Robinson, and Hurns in a GPP or two. Throw in Meredith for a game stack.
2 very low priced receivers I am keeping an eye on this week are Phillip Dorsett and Markus Wheaton. Last week’s darling Sammie Coates has multiple stiches in his hand and currently is wearing a cast. Wheaton could benefit here. Dorsett hasn’t done much yet but still has big play ability. He has the hammer Sunday night in the main slate.
Players I will have at least 25% shares are: Lamar Miller, Gronk, James White, and Marvin Jones.
Lastly I have to mention the Panthers/Saints game. All players in this game are in play obviously. New Orleans is the home to the NFL’s Coors Field.
