College Football Picks Against the Spread: Week4, 2016

Arkansas Brett Bielema

Welcome to Week 4 of the College Football season. Week 3 was a heck of a week of games with teams making their case for being College Football’s best team. Lamar Jackson laid his junk out on the table and asked the Seminoles how they like them apples. The Cardinal are a very good team and have a real shot at making the Playoff. Ohio State was also very impressive going into Norman and rolling the Sooners with their “basic defense.” It was a bit of a drop off in Week 3 going 3-2 after a 4-1 mark the week prior. On the season we are sitting at 9-5 mark or 64%. If we can stay in that range it should be a very profitable season. Lets bounce back in Week 4 with my College Football Picks Against the Spread. By the way, not only do I think these underdogs will cover but the outright win is not out the questions.

Arkansas Razorbacks +6 at Texas A&M Aggies

Would you look at that? We have the Razorbacks back in the state of Texas as underdogs around a touchdown. This is almost automatic for me at this point. Bret Bielema has been great at getting his guys up for a game like this in the past I’m not expecting much different. Arkansas will have a hell of a defense to contend with in this spot. Myles Garrett and company have looked better than some thought coming into the season and they had lofty expectations. The Aggie offense is where i have my doubts. The Trevor Knight buzz is getting too aggressive especially for a guy with a 52.9 completion percentage. He has weapons to make plays but Coach Kevin Sumlin doesn’t put him in the spots to succeed as often as I like. This game will be played in AT&T Stadium with a likely Aggie heavy crowd. However the biggest Razorback fan on the planet should be sitting in his owner’s box for this one. I don’t think Arkansas disappoints Jerry Jones in this one. Take the Razorbacks plus the points.

Pick: Arkansas +6

Oklahoma State Cowboys +9 at Baylor Bears

The Baylor Bears come into this game getting a ton of credit for little reason. They have beat Rice, SMU, and Northwestern State by seemingly impressive totals but they haven’t excelled in the way this spread indicates. I know the Cowboys haven’t been incredible either but we’re screwed royally in the game against Central Michigan. Oklahoma State will need to get their defense cleaned up if they want to hang in this game or have the shot at the outright win. But with Big 12 play starting, I can imagine Mike Gundy letting his boys get ran out of Waco. Take the mullet and the points here.

Pick: Oklahoma State +9

Georgia Isaiah Mckenzie

AP – L.G. Patterson

Georgia Bulldogs +7 at Ole Miss Rebels

I know Georgia was a left down a week ago but Missouri is an improving team that tends to play really well at home. I’m back on the Dawgs this week on the road taking on a reeling Ole Miss. The Rebels are coming off of a hug game against the Crimson Tide that they ended up covering for those of us that were on them last week. Unfortunately for Ole Miss fans it was the second time this season that they had a huge lead only to squander it and find a way to lose. This feels like a game where a frustrated Rebels team is gassed and can’t muster the offense to hang around with Georgia. Jacob Eason showed a ton last week on the road and getting the game winning touchdown on 4th down. I also expect a ton of Nick Chubb in this game. Alabama found a run game against Ole Miss last week and Georgia is much better on the ground. I think the Bulldogs cover this spread and get the outright win. And for a little extra fun, Georgia is currently 50/1 to win the College Football Playoff. They face Ole Miss this week and Tennessee next week, games I expect them to win. That number will come down considerably. Jump on now and enjoy the ride.

Pick: Georgia +7

Auburn Tigers +3 vs LSU Tigers

Here we go again. LSU is catching points on the road and I’ll gladly side with the home team. Danny Etling looked better against Mississippi State last week but still only had 215 passing yards with one touchdown and one interception. This week on the road will be a big test for this offense. While Leonard Fournette makes this offense go, the passing game will need to provide some balance or Auburn will be able to stack the box against them all day. Auburn has had offensive issues of their own but should get a little bump at home. This feels like a field goal game either way and with the home team having the edge. Give me Auburn plus the points.

Pick: Auburn +3

Florida Gators +6.5 at Tennessee Volunteers

The Florida Gators head into Neyland Stadium with an ownership on this rivalry including winning their last 11 meetings of these two teams. In the last 25 Tennessee and Florida games the Volunteers have only won five. Tennessee is pulling out all the stops in this game including donning the grey jerseys and checkerboarding the field. A win for the Vols could put them on a path towards a playoff berth. The Gators come to town with Austin Appleby under center after losing Luke Del Rio. The Florida defense is impressive especially in the secondary. It Butch Jones has ideas of Josh Dobbs throwing a ton, it will be a very long day for Tennessee. As much as I love Jalen Hurd and Alvin Kamara it may be rough going for them also. I like the Gators to keep this game close and find a way to pull away late. Take Florida plus those points.

Pick: Florida +6.5
