We have a full-slate of games for MLB DFS tonight, along with a Coors Field game!
Jon Lester (CHC @ OAK)
Over/Under: 8 1/2
FanDuel: $10,100/DraftKings: $9,600
Lester will have a nice park shift tonight on the road at Oakland Coliseum, where he started seven games in 2014. The A’s as a team don’t take many walks, with a 6.8% walk rate so they’ll be making more contact which are mostly ground balls for 42.7% of the time. Lester should be able to keep the ball in the park and let the offense get to Dillon Overton.
Justin Verlander (DET vs. NYM)
Over/Under: 7 1/2
FanDuel: $9,900/DraftKings: $13,600
Verlander is the most expensive pitcher on DraftKings tonight and will probably be a harder fit in your lineup if you’re paying up for Coors Field and other bats. He’ll be facing off against Mets’ pitcher, Noah Syndergaard, who will be at a disadvantage of having to pitch to a DH. The Mets as a team this season are striking out 22.3% of the time, which is 6th most in the league and Verlander can certainly rack up the strike outs.
Cameron Rupp (PHI @ SD)
FanDuel: $3,000/DraftKings: $4,100
Rupp will have the platoon against Christian Friedrich tonight at Petco Park. He’s really been hitting southpaws well this season by slugging .638, an OPS of 1.006, and .298 ISO. Petco Park is less of the pitcher’s park than it was, so rostering hitters in San Diego isn’t out of the question.
Paul Goldschmidt (ARI vs. MIL)
FanDuel: $4,200/DraftKings: $4,700
Goldschmidt and the Diamondbacks will be facing Brewers’ pitcher, Chase Anderson. Anderson is a right-hander with reverse splits, with the splits having a wider margin this season. Right-handed bats against Anderson are slugging .504, .365 wOBA, and giving up 1.46 HR/9. Goldschmidt should be able to score a good amount of fantasy points tonight.
Devon Travis (TOR @ KC)
FanDuel: $2,700/DraftKings: $4,300
Travis has led off in the batting order for a few games recently, and could be a nice target if you want to spend down at the position. The Blue Jays are in Kansas City, and will be faicng, Dillon Gee. Gee has problems with both handedness of hitter, so Travis not having the platoon shouldn’t be a problem, especially with Travis having better splits against right-handed pitchers this season with a .906 OPS, .212 ISO, and .387 wOBA.
Martin Prado (MIA @ COL)
FanDuel: $3,900/DraftKings: $5,100
Prado is having himself a nice season, but it goes unnoticed because he doesn’t have huge power numbers that’ll catch your eye. The Marlins are playing in Coors Field this weekend, and gives you the opportunity to roster him with the positive park shift with getting an extra at-bat or two. Like many, Prado for his career has really good numbers at Coors Field and his price on FanDuel is do-able.
Xander Bogaerts (BOS @ LAD)
FanDuel: $3,600/DraftKings: $4,600
Bogaerts and the Red Sox are playing their weekend Interleague series against the Dodgers. Tonight, they face Scott Kazmir, who has had more trouble against right-handed bats this season, which makes Bogaerts a top target at the position. He’s been very consistent this season, and with Kazmir givng up 1.58 HR/9 and .460 slugging percentage, it’s a nice spot for Bogaerts to show the power he has in his bat.
Giancarlo Stanton (MIA @ COL)
FanDuel: $4,800/DraftKings: $5,200
Stanton will probably be a familiar name in lineups for the weekend. He has the platoon tonight against Jorge De La Rosa, and is hitting at Coors Field. That’s all the information you need to entice you.
Ender Inciarte (ATL @ STL)
FanDuel: $3,200/DraftKings: $3,300
Definitely a contrarian play tonight against southpaw Jaime Garcia, Inciarte is coming into this game with a 15-game hitting streak. During this time, he has faced left-handed pitchers so getting some fantasy points against them is not totally out of the question. Garcia tends to not pitch very deep into games, so not having the platoon to start shouldn’t be a deterrent.
Other outfielders to consider: Tyler Naquin (CLE @ NYY), David Dahl (COL vs. MIA), George Springer (HOU vs. TEX), Lorenzo Cain (KC vs. TOR), Marcel Ozuna (MIA @ COL), Stephen Piscotty (STL vs. ATL), Jake Smolinski (OAK vs. CHC), Nelson Cruz (SEA vs. LAA), and Mark Trumbo (BAL @ CWS).
