Brickyard 400

The big story this week is Jeff Gordon coming out of retirement and driving for Dale Earnhardt Jr. (not really a surprise there). Kyle Busch will look to defend his title at the Mecca of Indy Car racing, the Brickyard. Indy is a 2.5 mile track that is classified as a Super Speedway. It isn’t nearly the show that Daytona and Dega are, but it is still an interesting race and fits into these mid-summer races.   This week I will provide 5 top end daily fantasy NASCAR plays and 5 value plays. One Loose Lug Nut is presented by UTV Family. Check them out at utvfamily.com or on twitter @utvfamily they are giving away a 2016 Polaris Rzr Turbo. For every $5 spent at their website you’ll get entered into the raffle to win!

Daily Fantasy NASCAR Picks

Top End Picks

1. Kyle Busch

Rowdy qualified in the top spot and is the defending champ. He has a driver rating of 101.5 at IMS and an average finish of 9.7. I love when Kyle starts up front because he usually stays there.

2. Carl Edwards

Sitting in 2nd is one of Rowdy’s teammates and another viable option for a win at IMS. Edwards is doesn’t have a great track record at IMS with a 86.9 driver rating, but this is a different season for Edwards. I think he should hang tough and finish close to where he starts today.

3. Jimmie Johnson

Johnson has been on a drought lately, but starts in an ideal spot today. Rolling off in 13th I think the #48 will have a great shot at place differential points and possibly a win. He has the highest driver at IMS of 106.5 and has led a whopping 302 laps.

4. Kyle Larson

No this isn’t a dirt track, but Larson has crushed IMS in 2 races. He has a driver rating of 103.6 and an average finish of 8th. He starts in 8th today and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him in the top 10.

5. Jeff Gordon

Let me just slide the retiree in here. Gordon starts 21st and will have the equipment to work his way to the front. He is fresh and still a great driver so it wouldn’t surprise me to see him with a top 10.

Value Picks

1. AJ Allmendinger

Allmendinger starts in 25th and hasn’t finished worst than that in 7 races at the Brickyard. He has positive place differential in all of those races and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a top 15 from AJ today.

2. Tony Stewart

This is the house of Tony and Jimmie. Tony starts in 3rd, which worries me, but he honestly could score some dominator points in this one. He also has the ability to finish better than he starts, which could potentially mean a win for Smoke.

3. Danica Patrick

Mrs. Stenhouse has quietly produced this season. She starts in 24th this season and has had back to back top 20s. Indy has been her house before and it definitely could be again.

4. Cole Whitt

Whitt starts 35th and only has one way to go. He has done exceptionally well at Super Speedway’s this season and should be a great punt play for anyone stacking the top.

5. David Ragan

This is honestly Ragan’s stretch of races as he has been good at the Brickyard as well. He starts in the 28th spot and has an average finish of 23rd. I could see +8 from Ragan and a nice return.
