Fantasy Baseball Daily Dose: Noah Syndergaard Stuns Brewers

Jake Roth - USA TODAY Sports

Anytime Noah Syndergaard takes the mound it is must watch baseball and the 5/21 Sunday action was different. Syndergaard is almost so good that these can no longer be headline performances because they happen so often! Yesterday had a bit of everything with good hitting, good pitching and even a good ejection of a very angry manager. Come on Monday what you got!

The intention of this article is to sum up the real key fantasy standouts from each day in a bite size chunk for you to read on your commute or over your coffee. However, fantasy isn’t all that will feature here as any crazy plays or fantastic punches will also get there mention here. There won’t be any significant detail here but be sure to contact the team on @60ftpodcast if you want more analysis on certain players.

  1. Revere comes alive!

After a slow start to the season including a DL stint Ben Revere broke his steals duck with two on Sunday. Revere should start to heat up now as he begins to get some playing time under his belt and is a good source of steals. This might be your last chance to try and buy low.

  1. Sucky Salazar

After his great start last time out Danny Salazar came back to earth with a bump Sunday. Four earned runs in 4.1 innings with three walks and eight hits is as messy as it gets for a top 20 guy. The bright side is that he struck out six in just 4.1 innings and frankly we can forgive him for struggling in Boston

  1. Wounded Tigers

It wasn’t all hunky dory for the Tigers Sunday as they saw both Jordan Zimmerman and Miguel Cabrera leave the field injured. There isn’t much news on either but there wasn’t great initial concern so hopefully both can avoid a DL stint and carry on their decent starts.

  1. Leonys Martin Leading Off

With Ketel Marte on the DL and Aoki being less than stellar so far this season Leonys Martin got a shot to lead-off Sunday. Martin has been heating up lately and has eight home runs and seen steals on the season. If he can get his batting average to around 0.250/0.260 ten he could be a more than useful fantasy option, especially of he leads off!

  1. Burns burns up the bases

Another guy with a two steal night just re-inforcing Burns’ value in roto leagues. This brings his season total to 10 and puts him pace to be a 40-50 steals guy which in extremely valuable in all formats but especially in roto.

  1. Stunning Syndergaard

It’s hard not to be impressed with Noah Syndergaard as he just keeps rolling on with an 11K performance against the Brewers. It wasn’t one of his absolute best starts but it’s enough to keep us impressed with Thor

  1. Angry Gibbons

So let’s spell out John Gibbons week; Sunday: Ejected, Monday: Ejected, Tuesday – Thursday: Suspended, Sunday: Ejected. That is a week for the books for Gibbons and probably suggests he needs a longer suspension so he can have a vacay and cool off somewhere nice!
