NBA DFS Playbook – 3/09
The NBA DFS Playbook season continues tonight Wednesday, March 2, 2016. An 11-game slate is upon us tonight as some premier superstars take the court. Target players opposing the Sixers and Kings. Best of luck tonight guys, lets go out and win.
**These prices/values come from DraftKings.com. However, all players mentioned are recommended picks regardless of DFS gaming platform.
Play of the Night: Kyrie Irving ($7,800)
In this game against the Kings, Irving should thrive. Sac-Town is terrible at defending opposing point guards, and they really struggle in transition as well. Kyrie has a fairly high price, but compared to some of the other elite point guards on the slate, it makes sense to play it safe. Also, in the wake of LeBron James’ comments about the team, it would not surprise me at all to see other Cavalier superstars really turn it up. Lock him in your lineup.
Jerryd Bayless ($4,500) – With Michael Carter-Williams out for the season, the Bucks take a huge blow to their playoff push. Jerryd Bayless has seen 30 minutes and more in every game since MCW went down. His minutes have been translating into fantasy points also, making him a great cash game play.
Ish Smith ($6,800) – Ish has really hit the ground running again and it showing why he can be a starting point guard in this league. 37 fantasy points in his last 4 games is good enough to not only hit value, but earn him a spot in my lineup against the Houston Rockets who give up a ton of points.
James Harden ($10,700) – The Beard is going to be in full-effect tonight against the lowly 76ers. At 10.7k on DraftKings his price is steep but he should be able to pay that off. He is an extremely safe play, but still brings upside of 70+ fantasy points if this game stays close. Pay up tonight.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope ($4,900) – KCP is still getting the minutes at SG, and has put together a string of nice games recently. While he is probably the 3rd of 4th scoring options for the Pistons, he seems to make the most of his talents almost always hitting value. Safe play for cash games.
Gordon Hayward ($6,900) – Hayward never seems to creep above 7.2k on DraftKings and never seems to fall below 6,600. That my friends is called consistency. Hayward is the ultimate cash game play if you are looking for someone to just simply hit value. In a somewhat tough matchup against Golden State, they will need him to have one of his better games to avoid getting blown out.
Robert Covington ($6,100) – Small Forward is pretty weak tonight outside of LeBron, KD, and Melo. If you are looking to go against the grain in larger tournaments, Covington is a great GPP sleeper. He has crazy upside on a team that desperately needs somebody to score. In a fast paced game against the Rockets, Robert Covington has a lot of potential.
Kevin Love ($7,200) – Refer above to Kyrie Irving. I like Love for all the same reasons. There will be a lot of missed shots by Sacramento and a lot of rebounding opportunities for Love. At 7,200 he’s a pretty safe bet to hit 40 fantasy points and surpass his value. Someone other than LeBron has to step up for Cleveland and this is K-Love’s chance to shine.
Donatas Motiejunas ($3,000) – At minimum price on most major DFS websites, Motiejunas is a solid play today. Against the 76ers, he should see around 25 minutes and should be able to impact the game. If you are looking for a punt play tonight and need a way to save value, he is your guy.
Alex Len ($6,600) – Ride the hot hand. Until Len puts together a string of bad games I will continue to play him. His current play really should have him priced at about 7.5-8k on Draftkings. His price is rising rapidly and his ownership is extremely high. Just remember, you aren’t the only one playing him. Len is the go to guy for PHX right now and gets a nice matchup against the Knicks.
Dwight Howard ($7,600) – A golden matchup for D12. He has been a double-double machine the last 10 games and shows no sign of slowing down. With his price under 8k he is my top center play of the day.
