NBA DFS Playbook – 2/3
Welcome back to the NBA DFS playbook! Tonight is a big night and one of the better nights I think to play all year. Eleven games is a big slate for the player pool and value across the board. Be sure to keep up with injuries and lineup locks before tipoff. All my prices are according to DraftKings. Good luck out there tonight and hopefully we can continue to build that bankroll like we’ve done all year.
Choosing between these two was difficult for me tonight. Neither one has a great matchup, but it’s hard to argue with the production Jrue and Cole have produced. Norris is more of a GPP tournament play for me and Jrue I have no issue playing in cash games. Most people will be fading Jrue tonight after a letdown last game, but I think he bounces back tonight when the Pels need him the most for another solid night.
Jeremy Lin ($5,400)
Kemba Walker is out tonight, so Lin is a natural pivot here. He’s been playing out of his mind in spurts recently, and he should be able to put up similar numbers with a heavy increase in minutes. If you’re looking for salary relief, he’s your guy here. I do see him as more of a tournament play than anything tonight because of the blowout potential.
Jimmy Butler ($8,800)
This game is going to be a fun one to watch. Very fast-paced game and a lot of back and forth, so their will be a lot of offense to go around. The Kings are particularly bad at guarding the two spot, so I’m paying up for Butler tonight.
Klay Thompson ($7,500)
I know Klay is chalk tonight, but there honestly isn’t much else at the position for me to recommend. Monta Ellis has been good lately, but I’ve been burned by him and I’m not confident enough to play him in cash games. Klay has been on a nice run lately and I think that the bad win over the 76ers will make the warriors play better tonight.
Rudy Gay ($7,200)
Gay instantly becomes the play of the night if Rajon Rondo and DeMarcus Cousins are out tonight. He showed he can still light it up when given the opportunity and I expect his hot hand to continue rolling tonight. Gay is the mismatch on the wing because he’s too big for Butler to cover. I expect the Kings to get the ball in his hands, which only means good things for DFS.
Chandler Parsons ($6,800)
Deron Williams is out tonight and Parson should be the biggest benefactor from the increased looks. Like I’ve said all season as well, the Heat suck at defending on the wing. Eight of Parsons last night games have resulted in over 30 fantasy points. It’s hard for me not to see that as his floor tonight with upside for 40.
Kevin Love ($7,600)
This will be one of the last time I’ll use Love but right now the going is good because his salary hasn’t quite caught up to his production. There was a nice run of LeBron James/Kyrie Irving/Love all scoring over 20 points. Love fell just short of that last game but I won’t hold it against him. There is a worry of a blowout tonight against Charlotte but I’m not too concerned about that to fade him tonight.
LaMarcus Aldridge ($7,000)
Aldridge has been hit or miss lately and that’s why I like him so much tonight. He’s going up against a terrible Pelicans frontcourt that just gave up almost 40 fantasy points to Zach Randolph. No Tim Duncan still means that LMA will be getting a heavy dose of minutes.
Myles Turner ($6,300)
Jordan Hill is starting for Ian Mahinmi tonight but don’t overlook Turner here. He has had three consecutive games of 30+ points. He’s the sneaky play fo the night and a guy I wouldn’t mind putting on a bunch of tournament teams.
Nikola Jokic ($5,700)
I love Jokic tonight as salary relief. He’s going to be getting a ton of minutes and the Nuggets need his size tonight against the Jazz. I don’t think he’s going to return 30+, but having someone that cheap score around 20 points does wonders for you salary cap.
