NBA DFS Playbook – 1/25

James Harden

The Monday edition of the NBA DFS playbook is always one of the hardest to write. I don’t know whether it’s because the weekend turns my brain off or that I just hate Mondays in general. However, starting off the week with an eight game slate should kick my ass into gear and get us started off on the right foot this week. All my prices are according to DraftKings

Point Guard

Kemba Walker ($8,600)

Remember on Friday when I recommended Walker because of all the injuries? Same holds true tonight. I’m jumping right back on that ship with Nicolas Batum, Al Jefferson, Jeremy Lamb,  and Cody Zeller out tonight. He went crazy dropping 40 points. While I don’t except to see him do that again, I don’t think it’s impossible for him to finish close to those numbers if things play out similarly.

Rajon Rondo ($8,500)

I’m stacking the backcourt of this game, which I don’t normally do. Everyone is flocking to Stephen Curry tonight, but I’ve been burned many times before going against the Spurs. Rondo has hit 40+ fantasy points in four straight games and I see no reason why that changed tonight. He’s more of a cash game play for me because his upside isn’t quite as high as other guys, but he’s money in the bank for cash games.

If you want to get some exposure to the Bulls/Heat game with all of Miami’s injuries, I love Derrick Rose ($5,900) tonight as a tournament play.

Shooting Guard

James Harden ($10,100)

I want to be clear here: I am not chasing points from Harden. I don’t expect him to have another 80+ fantasy point night. I am, however, going with the guy that has scored at least 50 fantasy points in his last three games consecutively. The offense runs through him and no Dwight tonight means Harden will have the offensive load on him tonight. I want him in all my cash games if possible.

Avery Bradley ($5,600)

In five of his last seven games, Bradley has hit at least 5x his value, with those other two games being 4x. He’ll be on the court a ton tonight for his defense, so the offensive opportunity should be there for him to hit similar value tonight.

Andrew Wiggins ($6,700)

I’m throwing in Wiggins as a bonus play tonight for GPPs. I’m normally not a fan of him, but Wiggins absolutely torches the Cavs for some reason. In his three games against them, he’s averaging 31 real life points against them. I know that’s a small sample size, but it’s hard to ignore such a big disparity over his career. He’s also SF eligible on FanDuel.

Small Froward

Tobias Harris ($6,400)

Much like Kemba, I’m going back to Harris here from last week. Memphis absolutely sucks against wing players. Harris can play both the 3 and be a stretch 4 so saying it’s a juicy matchup in an understatement.

Trevor Ariza ($5,200)

Every night I have problem finding a SF boutside of the big names. Ariza has been playing really well as of lately and gets a nice matchup against the Pels tonight. He seems to be more involved in the offense when Dwight Howard is out, so I’m looking at him in tournaments for for salary relief. I also want to mention that  Marcus Thornton ($3,600) is a nice GPP option as well with his homecoming back to the Big Easy tonight.

Power Forward

Josh Smith ($4,000)

With Dwight Howard out tonight, Smith will get a bump in minutes. Add to the fact that he was traded back to the team he wanted to rejoin, I think Smith makes for a great GPP play tonight. He’s hit 8x value in his two games since returning to Houston.

Davis West ($4,000)

West is my guy here tonight. I love him with Tim Duncan out so he should be getting plenty of minutes. He only needs 20 fantasy points to hit 5x value, which he has done in four straight games. This is why Pop brought him in this offseason. I’m confident enough in him for my cash lineups.

Center

Marc Gasol ($7,500)

Saying I love Gasol tonight in an understatement. People will be off him after his last stinker. He did get a little banged up, but all signs point to him playing tonight. He’s got a great matchup against Orlando.

DeMarcus Cousins ($11,000)

I really want to fade Boogie tonight but it’s really hard to with his production lately. His salary is outrageous and it makes it hard to fit in other guys I want to get in. With all that being said, I can’t do it with a good conscious. He’s hit 5x value or more in four of his last five games. IF you can fit him in there, I’d play him and not think twice about it.
