NBA DFS Playbook – 12/28

Dwyane Wade

After all of the craziness of the holiday season, it’s nice to just sit back and play some NBA DFS. Just a word to the wise, I would except to see a jump in contests because seasonal fantasy football just ended for more people last week. That also means that newer players will be joining the DFS ranks, so people more skillful should be able to clean house. Having 11 games on the hardwood tonight makes for a perfect night to do just that and build our bankroll.

Point Guard

J.J. Barea ($5,000)

I know he’s going to have the highest ownership percentage tonight, but he’s just too cheap to fade. He allows you to give some other big names into your lineup. If he bottoms out tonight, it shouldn’t hurt you too much tonight because of his ownership value.

Brandon Knight ($7,600)

Knight gets a bump tonight because of the loss of Bledsoe. It’s not the best matchup in the world for the Suns, but Knight has more than enough talent to still keep them in the game and put up great numbers.

Shooting guard

Dwyane Wade ($6,800)

I have a feeling that Wade will be much higher owned than people believe. He’s heard to fade in cash games though against a bad Brooklyn team. The blowout factor is there, but Brooklyn manages to show up and make games competitive when they should be getting blown out the water.

Garrett Temple ($4,900)

Temple has been my Will Barton, well besides Will Barton. I’ve just been plugging him in and enjoying the ride while I can. Temple has really stepped up and done well in the absence of Bradley Beal. He’s been red hot lately and the Wizards will need his scoring tonight against the Clippers.

Small Forward

Gordon Hayward ($7,200)

If Derrick Favors is out tonight, than Hayward is an automatic play tonight. I still like him if Favors plays a ton. He’s been hovering around value for the most part this season. He’s got a great matchup that can’t be ignored at home.

Chandler Parsons ($5,200)

This is my GPP play of the night. Parsons has a plus matchup at home against Milwaukee. It’s more of a gut call than anything, but he could pay off big if he looks like the Parsons of old.

Power Forward

Derrick Favors ($7,400)

Favors status for the game tonight it a little murky at the moment, but things are looking like he is going to play. Just be sure to check before the game starts that he’s active. It’s a great matchup for him and he is a lock for 15/8 on a bad night. I’m not worried too much about a blowout tonight because they Jazz are a little banged up as well.

Taj Gibson ($5,300)

With Joakim Noah out, everything points upward for Gibson. He showed on Christmas day that he can still get it done. The Raptors are a solid defensive team, but Gibson has the athleticism to grab boards in the paint and he should be more involved in the offense as well with the increased minutes.

Center

Nikola Vucevic ($7,400)

I don’t know if there has been a bigger surprise this season than the Orlando magic this season. A big part of that reason is Vucevic has been a steady producer for them. Tonight he gets Pelicans frontcourt that will have a hard time stealing boards from him. He is a riskier play, but I’m comfortable enough with him to play him in cash games.

Marcin Gortat ($7,100)

Gortat has been about as good as anyone since coming back from his little getaway a couple weeks ago. He’s hit at least 4x value over his past five games and his momentum doesn’t appear to be slowing down. With Blake Griffin out for the Clippers as well, the paint opens up more for Gortat to make plays and grab boards. I love him in any format tonight.
