Fantasy Draft Week 16 Bargain Buys

Mark Zaleski - AP

They say Christmas is a giving time and I hope my gift to all of you is a big pay day thanks to the Fantasy Draft Week 16 bargain buys guiding you there. With only two weeks left in the season there is not much time to win big before we have to wait a whole offseason to go again. This week a lot of teams won’t have anything to play for in their fantasy leagues so why not have a crack at trying your hand on FantasyDraft.com. For a $0 entry fee you can take part in contests that pay out real cash as well as free tickets into one of next weekend’s contests as well so what do you have to lose?!

This week the running backs revolve around injuries, the wide receivers are fairly common names if you have read my articles this season and there are also a couple of the Saints’ opponents chucked in there for good measure.

Blake Bortles, $12,300, JAX @ NO: Ok so I am cheating a little here because this isn’t a bargain but Bortles has been really good the last couple of weeks and I don’t see how he doesn’t tear it up again against this woeful defence. I couldn’t not include him because I think he has a shot to be the best fantasy QB this week. Oh and also I really don’t like the other good match-up cheap options of Alex Smith, Teddy Bridgewater and Brandon Weeden/whoever the Texans roll out.

Karlos Williams, $8,800, DAL @ BUF: With McCoy suffering from an MCL injury Williams has the perfect opportunity to make a statement this week against a Dallas defence giving up nearly 20 points a week to running backs. Dallas are likely mailing it in this season and playing for draft picks whereas Buffalo (and Rex) have a lot still to prove at the end of the year. Williams is a dangerous runner who is more than capable of finding the end-zone. (If nothing else select him in your free entry team so it give you a reason to care about this game!)

Cameron Artis-Payne, $8,400, CAR @ ATL: With J-Stew likely to be rested given that the Panthers are now only competing for the unbeaten season (yeah I said ONLY) Artis-Payne becomes a very interesting option. The Falcons D give up 20 points a week to fantasy running backs and I think they will be so keyed up on Newton that Carolina can pull the fake and hammer Artis-Payne down their throats. Add in that Carolina probably get up big and won’t want a repeat of last week so will just grind it out on the ground.

Frank Gore, $7,800, IND @ MIA: Another guy with a bad match-up. Gore hasn’t lit the world on fire this year but I just like the price given the talent and pedigree. He is my last choice of these three but if I really need to be stingy this is where I am looking.

Sammy Watkins, $12,600, DAL @ BUF: Frankly he is still undervalued given his talent and the increased targets lately. This week he gets a meh defence in a game where Buffalo need to step on the throat of Dallas and keep Rex his job. As a comparison he is cheaper than Baldwin (who has a tougher match-up) and I would say he is far more talented than Baldwin even given the roll Baldwin is on.

Martavis Bryant, $10,600, PIT @ BAL: I just like having a piece of this Steelers offence and I still trust Bryant over Wheaton on a weekly basis. Both are big play guys but I cannot see the Steelers missing an opportunity to humiliate a terrible Ravens team by running up the score and flexing their playoff muscles.

Stefon Diggs, $8,800, NYG @ MIN: Diggs broke his slump last week and this week he gets a Giants defence who was tore apart early last week by Carolina. Diggs is a good receiver who is maturing through the season and broke out with two touchdowns last week. Bridgewater loves going to Diggs and they line him up in some interesting ways to get him in space.

Julius Thomas, $9,600, JAX @ NO: This is a lot based on the match-up and a little based on the fact I think he has been a bit wasted, given the talent, this season. The Jags are still in it for the AFC South and they will have to try and hang with a Saints side who love to score points at home. I see a massive week for a few Jags but I think Julius is your budget way in.
