Week 14 NFL Picks Against the Spread

A.J. Green

Week 14 NFL Picks Against the Spread presents a rebound opportunity. Its a chance to get back on track for me after a 1-4 week 13. Its a rebound opportunity for the Detroit Lions and New York Giants after a heartbreaking losses at home. It also gives a 49ers team that has been a mess a chance to get back to back wins on the road.  This week may have one of the best games of the season with the Bengals hosting the Steelers.

Lets find some winners for Week 14.

>Upset Alert 7-6

Cincinnati Bengals -3 vs Pittsburgh Steelers

It’s very easy to look at this game after the way the Pittsburgh Steelers played last Sunday night, mainly on offense. Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown and company have put impressive totals when all are healthy. The Bengals get this game at home where they have been awesome, only losing 1 game. They are also 10-1-1 this season against the spread. The Bengals offense has the chance to attack a Steelers defense that has had issues against good offenses. In two of last 4 weeks their defense has allowed 30 plus points. They can be another team to put up that kind of total. A.J. Green typically has massive games against the Steelers as well. Cincinnati will be able to do enough on defense to cover the 3 point spread at home.

Detroit Lions PK at St. Louis Rams

Typically I hate be on the side that everyone is on as it usually does not work. However this spot screams to take the Lions. For St. Louis their defense has been depleted by injuries including to Alec Ogletree, Robert Quinn, and Chris Long. The Lions looked good for 3 and ½ quarters a week ago until they were beaten by the Rodgers to Rodgers connection. It may cause them to collapse which does cause some concern. The Lions defensively have improved by a solid margin over the past month. Assuming they can slow down Todd Gurley like most teams have done over the past few weeks the Lions should win this game pretty easily. The offense should be able to move the ball especially if they target Calvin Johnson. Take the Lions on the road.

Carolina Panthers -7.5 vs Atlanta Falcons

A season that started so promising for the Falcons has gone into full free fall. Devonta Freeman hasn’t produced as of late like he did to start the season. It has caused the Falcons offense to significantly underwhelmed. The have failed to cover their last 8 games. The Panthers on the other hand continue to roll. They are 12-0 straight up and 9-3 against the spread. Cam Newton and the Panthers offense should be able to score at will, especially at home. On defense Carolina should be able to slow Julio Jones down enough with Josh Norman to stifle the Falcons offense. I expect this game to be pretty lopsided with the Panthers covering the 7.5 points with ease.

New York Giants -1.5 at Miami Dolphins

This game is another line I have to side with the betting public despite how the Giants lost the game a week ago. Tom Coughlin has a coaching blunder or two a season that hurt his team. I expect them to rebound in a big way this week. The Giants fans should be well represented even with this game in Miami. The Dolphins offense should look decent enough especially as bad as the New York secondary has played. It may take a made field goal at the end of the game to seal it but the Giants will cover the 1.5 points.

Blaine Gabbert

San Francisco 49ers +1.5 at Cleveland Browns

Recommending Blaine Gabbert on the road was something I didn’t think could be possible but here we sit. he has been stable and shown an ability to move the offense. Something that has helped the team as a whole. They are on the road this week but are the absolute right side. Shaun Draughn has stepped up as a solid running back and get the worst rush defense in the NFL to go against this week. The Niners defense will also be licking their chops against Johnny Manziel and the Browns offense. Take the 49ers outright this week.
