Week 10 NFL Picks Against the Spread

Todd Gurley

Week 10 NFL Picks Against the Spread features a who’s who of road underdogs. For the most part we are not asking these teams to win, we just need them to cover. There is one home favorite that is in a great spot this week. Taking the non sexy teams isn’t always the most exciting but we are just looking to be on the right side. After a 4-1 Week 9, lets see if we can’t keep the good times rolling.

St. Louis Rams -7 vs Chicago Bears

The last time we saw Chicago Bears they were driving down the field for a game winning touchdown on Monday Night Football. This has helped this line move from Rams -9 to -7. However the Rams are absolutely the right side in this spot. The Rams may be without Robert Quinn and Chris Long this week which hurts but not the end of the world. The Rams defense is sick and plays so much better at home. They also face Jay Cutler who has been known to turnover the ball including a pick 6 a week ago. Expect this game to look much like the games against the Browns and 49ers. St. Louis runs the ball and plays great defense. They will cover the 7 points and then some.

Detroit Lions +13 at Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers have not looked impressive the past two weeks. They are returning home which should help the Green Bay offense look better. Thankfully for the Lions, the Packers defense has been bad especially with the injuries they have had. The Lions should be able to move the ball enough to keep this game inside two touchdowns. It may take a late score that make bettors and fantasy owners happy, but they should cover the 13 points.

Cleveland Browns +5.5 at Pittsburgh Steelers

There is a ton of variability in this game. Despite all signs pointing to Ben Roethlisberger not playing, he is supposedly trying to give it a go. The Browns have questions marks under center as well. It will likely be Johnny Manziel but Josh McCown could return for this game as well. No matter what happens with the quarterback shuffle, I like the Browns in this spot. They should rebound after being embarassed by the Cincinnati Bengals in their last game. DeAngelo Williams should have a field day against the Browns poor rush defense. The Browns can take advantage of a poor pass defense primarily with Travis Benjamin and Gary Barnidge. The Steelers are 6th in terms of yards and touchdowns allowed to opposing tight ends. The Steelers should win this game but the Browns will cover.

Washington Redskins +1 vs New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints are not a great team especially on the road. They do have a high power offense that can produce. But the Redskins should be able to match them this week. The Saints pass defense is atrocious. They have allowed the second most yards and most touchdowns to opposing offenses. I think this game won’t be cleanest but the Redskins should find a way to get the win at home.

**Upset Alert**

Bortles Balls Out in Baltimore (Mark Zaleski/AP)

Blake Bortles  should excel against the Baltimore Ravens (Mark Zaleski/AP)

Jacksonville Jaguars +5.5 at Baltimore Ravens

This line made little sense when it was posted at -7. It has since been bet down to +5.5 which makes sense. I love the direction the Jaguars are going. It will help if Allen Hurns can get out the walking boot he has been in this week. The Ravens defense has been awful against the pass allowing the 4th most passing yards. On offense the Ravens have Justin Forsett and that is about it. They have covered only one game all season. The Jaguars have covered two straight. I think Jaguars not only cover this spread but win outright.
