Captain Kirk and Navigating the bye week gaunlet

If you told me a month ago that I would be starting both Michael Vick and Kirk Cousins in week 5 of The Scott Fish Bowl, I would have told you that I was the captain of a sinking ship. The bye weeks can be hard to navigate in any league but in leagues this deep.. they can be down right scary. In this week alone I will be missing Adrian Peterson, Jarvis Landry, Eric Decker and Ryan Tannehill; not to mention I’ve already lost my best quarterback in Roethlisberger to injury. On the bright side, if I can somehow find a way to win this week I should be ahead of the game as far as bye weeks ago.. barring injuries of course. Luckily, I have a decent record at 3-1 (good for 3rd in my division) so a loss wont kill me if I take one. This week I’ll be facing off against Pete Nerozzi who has done a stellar job of fighting to a 3-1 (4th in the our division) record also, despite injuries to several key players in Andrew Luck, Sammy Watkins and Jordan Reed. This will be a week of patchwork offenses, no doubt.

I was quiet on the waiver wire this week making zero pickups, mostly because I am still holding on to players that I mentioned last week in Cameron Artis-Payne and Zach Zenner. Neither was used as much as I thought they would be last week but I am still holding out hope that they will get their opportunities later. I did make one acquisition late last week in Willie Snead (who I will need to start this week) as he looks to have overtaken the number two wr spot for the Saints.

We are now a third of the way through our regular season so I wanted to do a breakdown of the overall leaderboard to see where we sit amongst all of the 360 teams involved. As of today I am 3rd in the division, 12th in the conference(30 make the playoffs) and 73rd overall. Not a bad start, it could be better but absolutely could be worse so I wont complain.

I would also like point out some notable performances throughout the league:

1. There are 27 undefeated teams in all, including Rich Hribar from our Spider Monkey Division. Rich currently sits 11th overall in the standings.

2. There are only 5 teams that have scored over 800 points all year including Fake Pigskin’s own Jeremy Hardt..in fact, Jeremy sits at number 2 overall with 809 points. Great job Jeremy!

3.If the playoffs started today FakePigskin.com would have Jeremy, Regan Yant,A. Don Davenport, Luke O’neil and Daniel Lindsey all in! That’s more than any other site and a testament to the great work that they do here.

Good luck to everyone as we continue to fight injuries and the bye week gauntlet and please check back next week to see how The Spider Monkey Division is shaping up. Thanks for reading.
