DraftKings Week 5: Pick a Manning, Any Manning

Which Manning will get the nod in your lineup? (Photo by Ray Stubblebine)

DraftKings Week 5 features both Manning brothers having the opportunity to put up massive numbers. They both will face teams that are not great against the pass. It also features guys worth paying up for at almost every position. But the Bargain Bin has plenty to chose from to make lineups work this week as well.

Peyton Manning Denver Broncos $7,000
at Oakland Raiders

Peyton Manning has started to look much better as the season despite a little step back a week ago. This week he is in Oakland to take on a Raider team that has issues in the secondary. I expect a vintage Manning performance in this one. He is definitely worth paying up for this week. He should continue to pepper Demaryius Thomas with targets, find Emmanuel Sanders in space, and take advantage of the abysmal Raiders defense against the tight end.

Eli Manning New York Giants $6,800
vs San Francisco 49ers

Eli Manning is at home this week to face a San Francisco 49ers secondary that has been awful, especially on the road. After a poor performance in Week 1, Manning has been basically a 20 points a week scorer. Expect this best performance thus far and from him to get all of his weapons to get involved, especially Odell Beckham Jr.

Le’Veon Bell Pittsburgh Steelers $8,500
at San Diego Chargers

Le’Veon Bell reminded us a week ago how good he can be. This week, he is on the road against a poor rush defense in San Diego. Michael Vick remains under center, thus making Bell the offensive focus. I expect a monster performance from Bell in this spot. If I’m paying up for any one player this week it’s going to Bell, especially in cash games.

Justin Forsett Baltimore Ravens $5,800
vs Cleveland Browns

Justin Forsett had his best game of the season a week ago against the Pittsburgh Steelers, rushing for 150 yards. This week he faces a Cleveland Browns team that can’t stop the run. The Ravens will also be without Steve Smith so expect a few more targets to be filtered towards Forsett. He should be a nice play this week at a nice price.

Dion Lewis New England Patriots $4,800
at Dallas Cowboys

Dion Lewis is getting the starters reps in New England and is heading to Dallas to take on a Cowboys team that has issues stopping the run, just ask Devonta Freeman. It sounds like Sean Lee will miss this game after getting hurt a week ago against the Saints. Expect Lewis to be involved heavily in this game. If you’re looking for a GPP angle, teammate LeGarrett Blount could be a nice target.

Odell Beckham Jr. New York Giants $9,000
vs San Francisco 49ers

Odell Beckham on Sunday Night Football against the 49ers poor secondary is a great target this week. He should have a shot at a monster game as well. Eli Manning should find him early and often. With his big play ability, any of his catches can become touchdowns.

Demaryius Thomas Denver Broncos $8,100
at Oakland Raiders

Demaryius Thomas has been averaging 8 catches a game thus far this season. There is no reason to expect anything less this week. He will be peppered with targets and have a monster game against the Raiders. He should find the end zone, possibly multiple times in this game.

DeAndre Hopkins Houston Texans $7,200
vs Indianapolis Colts

I’m typically hesitant to use players in Thursday night games, but DeAndre Hopkins has been really good thus far this season, despite who is under center. He faces a Colts defense this week that has issues defending the pass. There is also a good chance that Vontae Davis will not play this week, which is an even better for Hopkins. He provides a decent cost savings among the other top targets.

Antonio Gates San Diego Chargers $4,200
at Pittsburgh Steelers

Welcome back Antonio Gates. Unlike players coming off of an injury, Gates is coming into this game off of a four game suspension. He and Philip Rivers have an obvious connection and should pick up right where they left off. Not to mention the Steelers have issues slowing down the opposing tight end, so he makes for a nice cheaper play.

Charles Clay Buffalo Bills $4,100
at Tennessee Titans

Charles Clay has seen his production increase each week. Tyrod Taylor is trusting him more and rewarding him with a ton of targets. He had 9 catches and 111 yards a week ago. He has another nice match up this week against the Tennessee Titans. Expect Clay to be used early and often. He will reward those who use him this week.

Marcus Mariota Tennessee Titans $6,000
vs Buffalo Bills

Marcus Mariota has had his best games at home and faces a Buffalo Bills team that has issues defending the pass. With their front seven can put pressure on the rush attack, Mariota could utilize his legs to attack the defense as well. He provides an cheap alternative at quarterback that will provide a ton of roster flexibility.

Jay Cutler Chicago Bears $5,300
at Kansas City Chiefs

Jay Cutler gets a great match up against the Kansas City Chiefs, who are 32nd against the pass this season. Alshon Jeffery should also be back to help this Bears offense. He should be able to utilize Martellus Bennett and Matt Forte also. At a $5,300 price tag, he makes a ton of sense in GPP’s and I’m not even scared to use him in cash games.

Todd Gurley St. Louis Rams $4,300
at Green Bay Packers

Todd Gurley’s break out came a week ago against the Arizona Cardinals. This week he is on the road again to face a Green Bay Packers team that has been solid against the rush, currently ranking 13th. However, Gurley is a special talent that has game breaking ability. Assuming the Rams can keep this game reasonably close, which isn’t crazy with how strong the Rams pass defense has been this season, Gurley should be a stud again this week.

Alfred Morris Washington Redskins $4,000
at Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons are really bad against the rush attack. This play will require the Redskins keep it somewhat close to utilize the rush attack. Alfred Morris is still a really good running back and one that should be used. If you think this game will get out of hand quickly, Chris Thompson is a sneaky start. Especially on sites like DraftKings that are full PPR.

John Brown Arizona Cardinals $5,100
at Detroit Lions

I know, I know, I keep going back to this well. John Brown is too talented and to highly used to not have a monster game. After the frustration of a week ago, the Cardinals will look to rebound in a big way this week. They face a Lions defense that is far from intimidating, despite how it may have seemed on Monday night.

Leonard Hankerson Atlanta Falcons $4,000
vs Washington Redskins

Leonard Hankerson is the second option in the Atlanta passing game and is averaging 7 targets a game. The best way to attack Washington is via the passing game. Julio Jones is a monster and will get work in this game, but Hankerson should produce as well. He is easy to fit into most lineups at a $4,000 price tag and should provide plenty of value.

Jaelen Strong Houston Texans $3,000
vs Indianapolis Colts

This is a pure punt play in GPP’s but one that could really pay off. Cecil Shorts has a dislocated shoulder and is out indefinitely. Nate Washington is day to day and on a short week, he could miss this game. Jaelen Strong is a very talented player and Thursday’s game could be the breakout performance some have been anticipating. We saw that on Sunday with Stefan Diggs – just because we have seen little to no body of work that a productive game is completely possible. It will be with much risk, but the payoff could be huge.

Zach Ertz Philadelphia Eagles $2,900
vs New Orleans Saints

The Philadelphia Eagles has started to look better in recent weeks. This week they get to face the New Orleans Saints, who are struggling on defense at home. Ertz has been seeing a reduction in targets. which can be frustrating and be a reason to hesitate to roster him. However he was targeted in the red zone a week ago and if not for a penalty, he would of had a touchdown. I feel a big week coming from Ertz against a defense that struggles against the tight end.

Owen Daniels Denver Broncos $2700
at Oakland Raiders

Owen Daniels is becoming more and more involved in this offense. His red zone presence is growing as well, having caught a touchdown in back to back weeks. He will going against the Oakland Raiders who have been torched by tight ends all season. At a very affordable at $2,700, getting him in your lineup is a slam dunk.

Arizona Cardinals $3,800
at Detroit Lions

This is the defense I will likely be using in cash games this week. They face a turn over prone quarterback and are coming off of being embarrassed on their home field. I expect a strong showing this week. They will be worth the $3,800 price tag.

Bengals Defense $2,800
vs Seattle Seahawks

This defense has the talent to create big plays and force turnovers. They face a Seattle Seahawk offense that has been far from a juggernaut this season. The Bengals are also home this week which makes this match up even more enticing. They are a great option in GPP.
