Fantasy Draft Week 5 Bargain Buys

NFL: JUN 04 Jaguars OTA's

A topsy turvy week 4 has thrown a lot of questions out when deciding on your Fantasy Draft team and will lead to a lot variation between teams this week. The return of the Patriots adds some much needed high end quality and in contrast there is not a huge amount of fantasy relevance on bye this week.

However, the question marks are actually among the ‘elite’ wide receivers this week. Odell Beckham feels hit or miss, Brown doesn’t have Big Ben throwing him the ball, Demaryius Thomas is having to do the work for his QB and AJ Green is facing the Seattle Seahawks who have dominated their last two opponents.

In general this week the cheap pickings are slim as the price setters appear to be getting a good feel for players now and the prices are starting to even out for their production. This means that you need to be clever about managing your cap and using every opportunity to find a few cheap plays so you can get those big ticket guys in as well.

Just because I pick a player here doesn’t mean I think he is a must play I am just providing money saving options in order to allow you to get those studs in your line-ups. I have once again included a few of the players I consider to be the stud picks at the bottom.

Sam Bradford NO @ PHI $11,600: Selecting Bradford has become quite a scary proposition with how badly he has performed this season but he appeared to turn a corner after half time last week. He ended with 24 fantasy points thanks to three touchdowns and 270 yards through the air. This week he gets the Saints who have been picked apart by far lesser QB’s than Bradford this season. If last week’s second half performance was an indication that he is figuring it out then this week could see him finally reach the potential we all thought he could in this offence. As I said above I am looking to go high priced because of poor match ups at QB this week but if I need a cheap option I am rolling the dice on Bradford in GPP.

LeGarrette Blount NE @ DAL $9,300: This basically comes down to my inclining that the Patriots get up big this week and use Blount as the hammer to close out the game. Blount did just that against Jacksonville two weeks ago and whilst I don’t expect him to get three TD’s again  do think he can get at least one and some late game yards.

T.J. Yeldon JAX @ TB $8,400: Yeldon broke the 100 yard barrier last week and averaged 4.8 yards per carry against the Colts. This week I think he breaks his end zone duck against a team who average a TD a week to running backs. This is a game Jacksonville could seriously win an if they get up then they will use Yeldon to run out the clock.

Terrance Williams NE @ DAL $8,800: Dallas will be chasing points this week at some point. They may start clock control but the Patriots ae highly likely to get a few scores and Dallas will need to match that. That is where Williams because massive against a weak Patriots secondary on a defence who will likely focus on taking away the run and making Weeden beat them. Williams could really have a massive day this week.

Leonard Hankerson WAS @ ATL $8,100: Hankerson has fast taken over as the number two on this offence and now he gets to play his old team. The Redskins have allowed 6 TD’s to receivers in four weeks and whilst Jones will dominate the targets I feel confident Hankerson will get his this week. Ryan needs two receivers to make this offence tick so he can get Jones in space so he will look Hankerson’s way plenty at times.

Owen Daniels DEN @ OAK $6,300: Oakland average 18 points a week given up to tight ends including giving up multiple scores to two of the four #1s they have faced so far. This week Daniels should be no different as Peyton will look his way near the goal line plenty.  I’m not sure he will see the targets other tight ends have seen (average of 11.25 per game) but I still expect 5 plus and at least one TD from Daniels.

My Studs this week

Tom Brady $15,400: He is on a mission to make the league buckle and I cannot see Dallas stopping that. Oh and he is a beast in domes.

Julio Jones $17,700: He struggled last week but selecting him this week comes down to as much limited options elsewhere with questions surrounding Beckham, Brown and Thomas.

Rob Gronkowski $14,800: I am always picking him when he is available because having him means I don’t have to worry about one spot what so ever.
