Week One Sneaky Starts: Insert Kendall Wright In Your Starting Lineups

Whew, here comes Week One! The week we have been waiting for since the 2014-2015 season ended in early February. Kendall Wright is one player I have my eye on in season long leagues as well as DFS. It is easy to start Julio Jones and Rob Gronkowski each week, but I am here to give you a few under the radar players that I think are worth starting in your fantasy leagues. All of my starting percentages are based off of Yahoo leagues. Fire up the grill and grab your favorite cold one, let’s get started for Week One.

Kendall Wright- WR- Tennessee Titans (13% Started)

Kendall Wright

After catching 94 balls in 2013, Wright hit rock bottom catching only 57 last year. If you haven’t’ heard, the Titans have a new weapon at Quarterback and Marcus Mariota seems to have a fondness for Mr. Wright. The Titans website declared Kendall as Mariota’s favorite passing game weapon. They connected for 6 receptions and 84 yards in limited preseason play. I like Kendall Wright as a top 25 WR in PPR leagues in Week 1 against a porous Buccaneers secondary.

Schnerd’s Prediction: 8 receptions- 81 yards- 1 touchdown

Roddy White- WR- Atlanta Falcons (19% Started)

Roddy White

The Eagles and Falcons meet on Monday night and Roddy White seems to be full systems go. This game is expected to be a shootout and the Falcons have a shaky run games meaning Matt Ryan should be chucking it around the yard. The Eagles fast paced offensive system leads to more possessions for opposing offenses as well. I expect Julio Jones to garner the heavy attention leaving the veteran White in favorable situations. Roddy isn’t ready to give up his starting spot to Leonard Hankerson yet.

Schnerd’s Prediciton: 7 receptions- 74 yards- 1 touchdown

Shane Vereen- RB- New York Giants (12% Started)

Shane Vereen

Running backs are very game flow dependent and I am looking for the game flow to favor Shane Vereen in Week One. The Cowboys are a 6 point favorite meaning the Giants may be in catch-up mode for most of the second half. Dallas typically game plans against the deep ball leaving Vereen to eat up the middle of the field. He is my favorite contrarian play in DFS this week and a sneaky flex play in PPR leagues.

Schnerd’s Prediction: 9 carries- 42 yards- 6 receptions- 46 yards- 1 touchdown

I know you all are just as excited for Week One as I am. Don’t go blowing that Draft Kings or Fan Duel budget all in one week. For my season long folks let’s just hope for no major injuries. Enjoy Week One and thank you for reading!
