Carlos Rodon Leads Streaming Options With High Upside

Carlos Rodon

Carlos Rodon, Wily Peralta, and Raisel Iglesias lead this weeks top streaming options. There is a ton of risk associated with these starters but the reward is very much worth the risk. These 5 starters can rack up the strikeouts, keep their earned run total low, and have a shot at the win. Rodon and Peralta are my two favorites this week if you have a limited number of starts or roster spots.

Jerad Eickhoff – Philadelphia Phillies
(Monday at NY Mets)

Jerad Eickhoff has been impressive since joining the Phillies rotation. He was the main piece acquired from the Texas Rangers in the Cole Hamels deals. He will get the chance to head into the spacious confines of Citi Field. He has the ability to put up 5 plus strikeouts. The biggest concern for this outing is for it to go sideways. It’s a concern for a young pitcher to face the same team again early in their MLB career. I like the potential output for this outing even though it does have potential for it to go poorly.

Raisel Iglesias – Cincinnati Reds
(Wednesday at Cubs)

Raisel Iglesias has been racking up the strikeouts in his recent outings. Some of the outings have seen his earned run totals above 3. This outing against the Chicago Cubs is a very high risk and high reward. The Cubs have the show the ability to put up big innings especially when the wind is blowing out at Wrigley Field. With that being said the potential for an outstanding outing is very much in place. The Cubs can strikeout with the best of them. There is potential for this go sideways in a hurry but the risk is worth the reward.

Carlos Rodon – Chicago White Sox
(Wednesday – Minnesota Twins)

This matchup provides a ton of potential. In his last four outings Rodon has allowed two earned runs or less. He has been displaying the skills that made him an elite prospect. His strikeout upside was on display against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim when he tallied 11. This matchup pits him against a Twins team that has the second most strikeouts in the month of August. It is that same team that also can hit lefties well. I’m going to take a gamble on the upside of this matchup and on Rondon developing as a pitcher. I suggest you do the same.

Wily Peralta – Milwaukee Brewers
(Friday at Cincinnati Reds)

Wily Peralta continues a run of pitchers with incredible upside but the potential for it to go badly. Peralta did well in his last start against these same Reds. He only allowed 1 earned run over 7 innings. He also got 6 strikeouts in that outing. Going into Great American Ballpark it is downgrade for Peralta. The Reds lineup is less that intimidating and has been scuffling down the stretch. I expect Peralta do perform well on Friday. Put him in your lineups this week.

Jesse Chavez – Oakland Athletics
(Saturday vs Seattle Mariners)

Jesse Chavez has been very hit and miss this season with more misses as of late. He did impress in his last start on the road against the Arizona Diamondbacks allowing 1 earned run and tallying 6 strikeouts in the process. In this matchup Chavez gets to pitch at home where he has been much more successful. He has a 2.85 ERA in 13 home games. He gets to face a strikeout prone Mariners team in a park that really helps to avoid the long ball. Like the other pitchers I recommend this week there is potential for Chavez to give up a crooked number but the potential reward is worth the gamble owners must take.
