Fantasy Baseball: Streaming Options for Week 19

Carlos Rodon

The streaming options for Week 19 provide a ton of upside potential. These guys can tally strikeouts in strong match ups. They are also DFS options as a cheaper second pitcher or in GPP formats. This week marks the return of a pitcher from the disabled list who can help not only this week but hopefully going forward.

Carlos Rodon – Chicago White Sox
(Monday at Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim)

Carlos Rodon has not been a model of consistency this season, but in some matchups he has proven to be really effective. He has elite strikeout upside showing the ability to get into double digits. He gets to face a Angels team that outside of Mike Trout and Albert Pujols is far from intimidating. Even those two guys aren’t that scary with Trout hitting .189 in the month of August and Pujols hitting .210 against left-handed pitching. Roll with Rodon in this matchup.

Erasmo Ramirez – Tampa Bay Rays
(Monday at Houston Astros)

Outside of two bad starts, Erasmo Ramirez has been really strong in his last 10 starts. He has allowed 1 earned run or less in the each of those games. Some games haven’t seen a strong strikeout total but the potential has been seen, like the 7 against the Indians or the 6 at the Red Sox. This outing sets up nicely as Ramirez gets the chance to face a Astros team that strikes out with the best of them and tends to struggle against right handers. There is a slight hesitation in the match up because the Astros can produce runs as much as they can strikeout. Ramirez also faces Scott Kazmir who has been great since being traded to Houston, making the win harder to come by. The Rays can get to lefties, so the potential for the win is there.

Joe Ross – Washington Nationals
(Saturday vs Milwaukee Brewers)

Joe Ross has been hit around in his last two outings, but prior to that he had been really strong. He has shown the ability to limit the damage and tally up an impressive strikeout total. Saturday’s matchup with the Brewers should set Ross up for another strong outing. The Brewers are still striking out with top MLB teams. Id expect Ross to allow 2 earned over 6 plus innings and get in the neighborhood of 6 or 7 strikeouts with the potential for more. He should help those in weekly leagues finish strong.

Matt Garza – Milwaukee Brewers
(Sunday at Washington Nationals)

While I prefer his teammates Jimmy Nelson or Taylor Jungmann if they are available in your league or as DFS options, Garza has potential to do well in this matchup. As of late, Garza has been solid allowing 3 earned or less in his last 5 outings and getting 4-5 strikeouts in each outing. Against this Nationals team that is scuffling and striking out the 5th most in the MLB in the month of August, he has the potential to perform well. He could duplicate his last outing against the Nationals when he went 7 strong with only 1 earned and 7 strikeouts.

Mike Leake – San Francisco Giants
(Sunday at Pittsburgh Pirates)

Mike Leake is expected to be back this week to make his first start of the DL. Typically this could be something that gives me pause and it still kind of does. Leake spent the majority of his career playing in the NL Central and knows this Pirates team well. While the Pirates haven’t been as susceptible to the strikeout this month, they were 4th in the month of July. Leake has the opportunity to come back and do well in this matchup. Even if you want to avoid his first start off of the DL, he is worth an add, as he can help you down the stretch.
