Daily Fantasy Basketball Playbook – 2/6

Anthony Davis

This week has been an absolute blur to me. It was one thing after another and I was not able to get my daily fantasy basketball picks out Monday or yesterday. I am definitely glad to be back into the full swing of things tonight with so many games to choose from. As always, my prices are according to DraftKings.

*Editor’s note: Hassan Whiteside has been downgraded to doubtful so plug in Chris Bosh for him. Chris Anderson makes for a GPP play as well.

Point Guard

Michael Carter-Williams ($7,900) – MCW is listed as questionable, so keep an eye on him. I firmly believe he will play tonight though and he is almost a lock in my lineups. I love rostering a guy that can give me a triple-double with 20+ points on any given night. He’s in the top tier of fantasy guards in my book, but he comes at a discounted price. I’ll gladly take that tonight.

Deron Williams ($5,100) – This is my sneaky play of the night as I don’t think many people will have Williams in their lineup. The Knicks are not a good team, as many of you already know, and has hit value his last two games. I like Williams as a GPP/contrarian play tonight.

Mike Conley ($6,800) –I’ve gotten burned by Conley before, but his matchup is too good to pass up tonight. He’s got the upside of 35 fantasy points, but also the downside of about 20. Conley has been so hot and cold this season that you never know what you’re going to get. The Timberwolves are terrible at defending the position, so that gives me some hope that Conley can have a solid game. I like him mostly for GPPs tonight.

Shooting Guard

Jodi Meeks ($3,200) – Meeks hasn’t been blowing anyone away, but has bene quietly playing solid basketball for the most part since returning from injury. He costs next to nothing tonight, and he gets a great matchup against the Nuggets who’s backcourt defense is very suspect at times. As long as Meeks continues to get minutes off the bench, he should be hitting value.

Giannis Antetokounmpo ($6,000) – I like a lot of the cheaper options tonight at the position and Giannis is a big reason why. He’s hit 30+ fantasy points in his last four games. I like to use guys that are hitting right around value, and the Greek Freak has been doing just that. I don’t need the best players every night, I just want steady guys that have upside to do more. That’s Giannis for me tonight.

Kevin Martin ($5,700) – Martin has a lot of upside tonight since the Timberwolves will need to put up points tonight. He’s got a cheap price, and will have the greenlight to let it fly tonight.

Small Forward

C.J. Miles ($4,000) – I like using players for revenge games for players and Miles will be looking to do some damage tonight against his old team. For as good as Cleveland has been, that are pretty terrible at defending the small forward spot. Everything sets up nicely for Miles tonight, and hopefully he can step up and take advantage.

Draymond Green ($7,300) – I know all eyes will be on Steph Curry and Klay Thompson tonight, but I think Green may return the most value tonight. Atlanta is not an easy place to play, and Green can defend all positions on the court. That’s why I find it hard to fade him.

Tobias Harris ($5,800) – It’s always a good idea to start anyone against the Lakers. Harris is a cheap price and he’ll be owned in most tournaments and cash games tonight. I would rather use other guys, but I have no problem plugging him in to save some cash.

Power Forward

Nerlens Noel ($5,400) – Anyone that has watched Noel play basketball over the past few weeks has seen his potential flash at some point in a game. Noel has five straight games with 20+ fantasy points. While that’s not hitting value, he has a great matchup tonight that has him underpriced on DraftKings. If I’m looking to save some cash at the position, I’m going with Noel.

Anthony Davis ($10,800) – The Pels will be looking to avenge Wednesday nights loss and Davis will be in full force tonight to do so. With Durant back tonight, Davis will be needed and used in heavy doses by Monty Williams. It’s always hard to not use the best player in fantasy.

Jason Smith ($5,300) – Smith has been getting a ton of minutes on the court. I love his play style and he can consistently hit those 16-18 foot jumpers that most people don’t realize. He comes at a cheap price and you can know you’re getting around 25 fantasy points from him.

Center

Nikola Vucevic ($8,100) – I know Vuc is the most expensive player at the position and for good reason. The Lakers are terrible and have nobody in the frontcourt that can stick with him. I’m not worries about a blowout here because both of these teams are in a bad place right now. Tonight is one of the few nights where I love the center position.

Hassan Whiteside ($8,000) – I know he is going to be owned across the board, but it is for a good reason. I think everyone here at the FakeRoundball staff has recommended him at some point in the past two weeks. Whiteside has had a double-double in five of his last six games. Also, he’s only had one game with zero blocks since the start of the new year. The Spurs are a solid defensive team, but Whiteside should easily have another double-double tonight.
