Daily Fantasy Basketball Playbook – 1/7

Paul Millsap

Last night was a light night of daily fantasy basketball, but tonight we are in full swing with a 13-game card. There are a ton of games with a high spread, so that bodes well in the DFS community. All my prices are according to DraftKings, so good luck and lets win some cash.

Point Guard

Kryrie Irving ($8,800) – If I am paying up for the top tier guys tonight, I like Irving the most even though he is coming off an injury. It wasn’t serious enough to scare me away tonight, and Houston has not been playing their best ball. Not to mention that LeBron is still out, so the offense will be run through Irving and Kevin Love

Elfrid Payton ($5,300) – Payton is the Draymond Green of point guards. He does a little bit of everything, and that is a dream come true in DFS. He’s one of the mid-tier guys I really like tonight, but I think he has the most upside out of them.

Shane Larkin ($4,200) – More minutes equals more opportunity, and Larking should log in plenty of those tonight with the departure of J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert. Ideally, I wouldn’t want to play him because of his matchup, but if you’re looking to save some cash, then Larkin is your guy.

Shooting Guard

James Harden ($10,200) – Harden laid a turd on the court last time I recommended him, but the drop in price is a last Christmas gift. He could easily bounce back and drop 50+ fantasy points, so I have no problem paying up for him against the Cavs.

Avery Bradley ($4,000) – Bradley has quietly been a solid fantasy player, and his numbers should continue to increase with the departure of Rajon Rondo. Before last game, he was logging over 30 minutes a game, and the Celtics will need him on the court tonight to defend Joe Johnson/Deron Williams. He’s a GPP play for me.

Tim Hardaway Jr ($5,000) – Much like I like Larkin tonight, Hardaway will need to score tonight and should get a ton of minutes. He’s the Knicks best offensive weapon besides Melo, who is still banged up with knee problems.

Small Forward

Wilson Chandler ($6,000) – Chandler is a risky play, but his minutes have been everything you would hope for in daily. He has a good matchup, and Orlando does not defend well enough to scare me away from using him.

C.J. Miles ($5,000) – I am quite surprised his price is so low, considering Miles has been outplaying his price tag lately. He’s been the hot hand in Indy, and they will need to keep up with Golden State tonight, so he’s a no brainer for me.

Justin Holiday ($3,000) – Holiday has been averaging over 20 fantasy points a game over his last three. It won’t take much for him to outplay his value, and he has been getting the minutes to do so. I actually really like using him tonight, especially with blowout potential.

Power Forward

Paul Millsap ($8,700) – Millsap is my guy tonight. I know Memphis plays excellent defense, but Zach Randolph is still banged up. The Hawks will look to exploit that and Millsap should be in like for a huge night. Plus, his price tag is a lot cheaper for someone who could be the best at his position tonight.

John Henson ($4,000) – The Bucks will need Henson tonight with Larry Sanders acting like a child, as usual. He’s been producing when he gets in the game, and it doesn’t cost much to put him in your lineup. I definitely like him as a GPP play.

Greg Monroe ($7,000) – The Pistons have been the best team in the league since the Josh Smith trade, and it makes me giddy like a little kid. I was always an advocate against Smith because I believed Detroit had the players to be a good team. Monroe is coming off a monster game, and he should continue that tonight in Dallas.

Center

Joakim Noah ($7,200) – Noah’s value is too good to pass up tonight. If I am paying up for the center spot, I am going with him because he wont break the bank and you can still fit in other top tier guys.

Omer Asik ($4,200) – Asik is my punt play tonight. He has been a rebounding machine, and with no Al Jefferson for the Bobcats means good things for the Pels.
