NFL Eliminator Challenge: Week 13

NFL Eliminator Challenge

Welcome to week thirteen of our NFL Eliminator Challenge series. Last Sunday we got back on the right track. Not only did San Francisco pull off the victory over Washington, but both Denver and Philadelphia also won putting us 3-0 last week. Now that our second streak has started let’s keep it going! Read on and feel free to comment at the bottom.

Step 1 – Avoid Division Matchups

Last week we got a new division matchup victim. Kansas City was riding high with a playoff berth in their mitts, so what did they do with it? Lost to the last winless team in the league. These games just keep you guessing. Do yourself a favor and avoid the below division game:

  • Tennessee at Houston

Step 2 – Avoid Marquee Matchups

What a great shootout between Dallas and the Giants last Sunday night. That’s what happens when you put a division matchup in primetime. This week becomes extra difficult as Thanksgiving rolls around and drastically increases the amount of games being shown around the world. Not to mention all of them are division matchups as well. Avoid the below marquee games this week:

  • Chicago at Detroit
  • Philadelphia at Dallas
  • Seattle at San Francisco
  • Denver at Kansas City
  • Miami at NY Jets

Step 3 – Avoid Picking Against Home Field Advantage

While Cincinnati was able to hold on to a victory on the road this past weekend I would still try to pick a home team whenever possible. Just remember, it was only one week ago when Denver lost in St. Louis. Be aware and avoid the below games where the favorite is the away team:

  • NY Giants at Jacksonville
  • Cincinnati at Tampa Bay
  • Arizona at Atlanta

Step 4 – Make your pick!

Picking against the Redskins worked last week so why not try it again. This time the struggling Redskins travel to Indianapolis where Andrew Luck is having a pro bowl worthy season. The Colts are 4-2 at home this year while the Redskins are 1-5 on the road. The Colts are also averaging 30.3 points per game compared to the Redskins measly 19.7. The stats all point in one direction and that’s why my pick of the week is:

Indianapolis over Washington

Other options I like this week:

St. Louis over Oakland

Normally I don’t like to pick teams with losing records (I already learned my lesson this season in week eleven), but I just find it hard to believe that this Oakland team wins a second game in a row this Sunday. Especially since they have to do it on the road, against the team that beat Denver two weeks ago. I’m going with the Rams on this one.

Pittsburgh over New Orleans

It’s hard to believe that New Orleans doesn’t have a winning record this season. A big piece of it is they are 1-4 on the road. They are also playing a Steelers team who are 4-1 at home. This isn’t my favorite pick, but I think the Steelers get back on track against the Saints on Sunday.

Good Luck!
