IDP Dynasty Targets Featured in the Week 10 IDP TwitterBag

EJ Gaines is just one of the dynasty targets highlighted in the Week 10 IDP TwitterBag

Welcome to the IDP TwitterBag, a good mix of Week 10 IDP rankings, and looking ahead to the future with some IDP dynasty targets with this week’s questions. Here is the Week 10 IDP TwitterBag with questions you tweeted at me this past week.

Any young IDPs still under the radar you would be targeting for dynasty?
Here are some of the guys that could be flying under the radar. Obviously, they may or may not pan out.

Sam Barrington, ILB, GBP: I think Green Bay likes this kid and he’s starting to get some snaps over Brad Jones and Jamari Lattimore.
Stephon Tuitt, DE, PIT: I think Pittsburgh looks like at this guy as a potential starter opposite Cameron Heyward. He’s seen a handful of snaps this year and could be someone that sees more action in 2015.
Marcus Smith, LB, PHI: Another one that has received inconsistent snaps, but with DeMeco Ryans up there in age and suffering a major injury, he could be in the mix next year.
Kenny Demens, ILB, ARI: Larry Foote is in his mid-30s and his production is falling. Kevin Minter is only averaging 19 snaps per game.
Demarcus Lawrence, DE, DAL: Suffered a foot injury that cost him the first half of 2014. Saw 28 snaps in 2014 debut.
Timmy Jernigan, DT, BAL: Solid interior linemen that could be battling for starter job next season.
E.J. Gaines, CB, STL: Already contributing in St. Louis. Hopefully, no one has noticed in your league.
Dezmen Southward, FS, ATL: Has played only a handful of snaps this season, but another DB that could be in the mix next season.

Who’s matchup is juicier for a big play? ClayMatthews/Julius Peppers, Bruce Irvin or Tamba Hali
I like the match-up for Matthews and Peppers this week. Both have been getting to the QB fairly consistently this season:
Matthews: 26 combined QB pressures/225 blitzes
Peppers: 25 combined QB pressures/219 blitzes

Both rolled into the bye week producing sacks in consecutive weeks and face offensive tackles that have been average on the season. Jordan Mills is looking probable and he’s allowed five sacks and 19 combined QB hits/hurries. Jermon Bushrod has been a stout left tackle, but Julius Peppers should know his tendencies and be able to cause some pressure on Jay Cutler. I still like Peppers/Matthews over the options this week.

What can we make of the Mark Barron/T.J. McDonald and Dashon Goldson/Major Wright situations? Any value to had?
I like Major Wright and I wrote about him in my Week 10 free agent piece and my Week 10 IDP match-ups (shameless plugs). Barron was in on special teams last week and didn’t get snap, but I don’t think the Rams gave up draft choices to play him on punt return coverage. In looking at the depth chart, the Rams have Barron listed as the 3rd FS behind Rodney McLeod and LaMarcus Joyner. At this point, it’ll be hard to tell what kind of role he’ll carve out. If you’re a Barron owner, I’d leave him on the bench to see what kind of playing time he’ll get.

Rashad Johnson aside, are we to expect a timeshare with the Arizona safeties going forward?
I think so. Rashad Johnson seems to be the only safety with a clear role and is on the field consistently.

This deep into the season, who do you think are the IDP fantasy MVPs and runner ups at each position? (DL, LB, DB)
DL MVP: Willie Young, DE, CHI – He was drafted, I’m sure, at the tail end of most drafts and all he’s done is record seven sacks and 32 tackles. In some scoring formats, he’s a DL7 and is producing 0.25 points per snap.
DL MVP (Runner-up): Everson Griffen, DE, MIN – He was pegged as a 2014 sleeper when Jared Allen went to Chicago in free agency. He’s now produced sacks in five straight games and is a DL2.

LB MVP: DeAndre Levy, OLB, DET – I thought he was over-rated heading into the season because of his big plays last season. Well, he’s not producing as many big plays but is recording a nice amount of tackles. He’s producing a 14.3 percent tackle rate and 0.27 points per snap.
LB MVP (Runner-up): Keenan Robinson, ILB, WAS – I was tempted to put C.J.Mosley here but Robinson missed all of last year, was brought into Washington and was named starter immediately. He was a complete wild card and is an LB7 in overall scoring, producing weekly.

DB MVP: Eric Weddle, FS, SDC – The guys keeps producing and is on pace for another finish as top scorer. He’s producing 0.22 points per snap and average just over seven tackles per game.
DB MVP (Runner-up): Michael Griffin, FS, TEN – Griffin is a DB3 in overall scoring and has three games in which he’s recored 20 or more fantasy points.

Any chance 49ers Chris Borland comes close to last weeks numbers? Tramon Williams or Tyrann Mathieu at CB?

Borland almost reminds of Paul Worrilow. Give the guys a chance and he makes plays and tackles. What was impressive about Borland, is that 12 of his tackles resulted in a failure for the offense and three were for a loss completely. He’s got a nose for the football, however, I’m not expecting 18 tackles again. Double-digits is not out of the question though.

I’d go with Tramon Williams. He’s on the field for the majority of the snaps and will be covering a WR that’s going to get targted, whether it’s Brandon Marshall or Alshon Jeffery. Should lead to plenty of targets, which will lead to tackles and possible defended passes.

Thanks for the questions everyone! See you next week!
