College Football Picks Against the Spread: Week 9, 2014

Dak Prescott

My College Football Picks Against the Spread, have gone very well the past two week, going 8-2-1 in the past two weeks. Week 8 was excellent, including calling two underdogs as outright winners. Week 9 sets up as another potentially great week.

With conference play going full bore, Bowl Season will be here before we know it. The contenders are beginning to step forward. The next few weeks in should be very exciting.

Season Totals 20-14-2
Upset Alert 4-4

Mississippi State Bulldogs -13.5 at Kentucky

This is a tricky spot for the Bulldogs who look to keep it rolling in Lexington, this Saturday. Kentucky is a vastly improved team, especially on the defensive side of the ball. That said, I think the magical season continues for Mississippi State. Dak Prescott is a monster that is the Heisman favorite. This game may be close early but will look very lopsided come the fourth quarter.

Maryland Terrapins +11 at Wisconsin Badgers

The Maryland Terrapins have been impressive this season, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Wisconsin have been the sleeper team some thought could win the Big 10 outright. Maryland comes into this game catching 11 points on the road. This is far too many points for a team that only beat Illinois by 10 a week ago. I love Melvin Gordon, but I expect the Terrapin offense to be able to hang around and keep it close, even in Madison.

Colorado Buffaloes +13.5 vs UCLA Bruins

UCLA escaped a tough road game a week ago against Cal on a late questionable interception call. They are on the road again this week to take less than stellar Buffalo squad. Brett Hundley and the Bruins have been a turnover prone squad and it has allowed their opponents to hang around. Colorado has done a solid job staying in games, outside of last weeks game against USC. The offense should continue to improve and be able to run the ball effectively. It will be close, but Colorado should keep the game inside two touchdowns.

West Virginia Mountaineers +2.5 at Oklahoma State Cowboys

Oklahoma State was embarrassed last week by a very good TCU team. I expect much of the same this week from the Cowboys. Quarterback Clint Trickett has this offense rolling. Kevin White is a monster on the outside and is very likely the first receiver off of the board come April’s NFL draft. The Mountaineer defense doesn’t get the respect it deserves with the offense putting up such impressive numbers. I expect the Mountaineers to be battle for the Big 12 title come seasons end. Not only will West Virginia cover but they will win outright and rather impressively.

LSU

**Upset Alert**

Louisiana State University Tigers +3.5 vs University of Mississippi Rebels

The time has come for one of the Mississippi schools to falter. Ole Miss heads into Tiger Stadium for a night game. Baton Rouge will be on fire come Saturday night between the excitement for this game and the amount of booze they have consumed during the pre-game festivities. This Tiger team is full of talent but is very, very young. They are improving as a team and growing up on the field. They will be a force to be reckoned with next season and a legitimate title contender. They will continue to improve the rest of this season and find themselves on a ton of watch lists heading into next year.
