It was a challenge to make my College Football picks, with a Week 5 slate chalk full of teams primed for upsets. Not only does Week 5 features a Stanford team that struggles in the red zone heading into Seattle to take on a Washington Huskies team on the upswing, but it also features an SEC clash at Jerry World and interesting inter conference match ups. A multitude of teams should be on upset alert this week. Come the end of Saturday, College Football analysts will have plenty to talk about.

Last weeks 2-3 record was less than ideal and Oklahoma made my West Virginia Upset Alert pick look foolish, however week 5 brings potential. On the season i am 6-9 and 2-2 in my Upset Alert picks. Week 5 will get my streak going in the right direction.

>Season Record 6-9

>Upset Alert 2-2

Arkansas Razorbacks +9.5 at Texas A&M Aggies

I have gone back and forth on this game more times than I’m willing to admit. Everything reads that Texas A&M is the right side but I’m leaning the other way. Arkansas has a dominant run game. Something that can keep Kenny Hill and company on the sidelines. The Aggies dismantled South Carolina on the road in week one. The offense was impressive and has kept it rolling. Arkansas has a terrific rush attack that should be able to keep the Aggie offense on the side lines for more time than they would like. Another positive for Arkansas, is they have seen the spread twice thus far, week 1 against a really talented Auburn teams and two weeks ago against Texas Tech. This game being “Jerry World” also helps with a split crowd and not a true home game in Kyle Field for the Aggies. This game should be tight late, with Arkansas having a real shot at the upset.

Colorado State Rams +9.5 at Boston College Eagles

The Colorado State Rams opened the season with an impressive home victory against the in state rival University of Colorado. Since then the only stumble came at Boise State. The Eagles are third best rush attack in the nation but have a defense susceptible to big plays. BC was very impressive at home against the University of Southern California, however I expect the Rams to go on the road and put up enough to keep this game close, if not win outright.

Baylor Bears -21 at Iowa State Cyclones

The Baylor Bears are a high powered machine that looks to score early and often. While the Iowa State Cyclones have looked impressive early, especially in “Farmageddon”, they have yet to encounter anything like what quarterback Bryce Petty, running back Shock Linwood and this Bears offense posses. I expect this game to get out of hand quickly and for Baylor to not take their foot off of the gas pedal. Baylor will cover the spread and then some.

Maryland Terrapins +4.5 at Indiana Hoosiers

I’m going to ride with the Terrapins again this week. They put on a show offensively against Syracuse a week ago. Indiana comes into this game on a high after knocking off Missouri. This game is primed for a Hoosier let down. Maryland will need their defense to do enough to slow down Indiana. If they can, the Maryland offense will have no issue scoring. The total on this game is 69 and likely will go over as early as the middle of third quarter.

**Upset Alert**

Washington Huskies +8 vs Stanford Cardinal

Coach Chris Petersen

The Stanford Cardinal havent looked like the team of the past few seasons, this year. While defensively they still play with the same intensity, the offense lead by quarterback Kevin Hogan has been nearly as impressive. They have scored on six touchdowns in fourteen red zone trips. If the Cardinal Struggle to get touchdowns instead of field goals, it may be a long night. Chris Peterson has his offense rolling in recent week. If the Huskies can move the ball early they have a real shot at pulling off the upset.

A really nice three team, money line parlay can be set up picking Washington, Maryland and Arkansas. The odds are 30/1 in a parlay, meaning you win 30 dollars for every dollar you bet. All three teams have to win in order to collect. This is all assuming you are in a place that it is legal to do so, i.e. Las Vegas.

Duke at Miami, Missouri looking to rebound at South Carolina and Oregon State heading to the Rose Bowl to take on USC are worth looking at with upset potential in mind.
