The Atlanta Falcons and Roddy White have agreed to a four-year deal. The deal will be worth $30 million dollars and will add three years to his current contract. Some people may be puzzled as to why the Falcons would do this after the way the 2103 season ended. His production prior to last season should be rewarded. White has been one of the most consistent receivers during his time with the Falcons. Before last season that saw White deal with injuries and the Falcons struggle across the board he had played all 16 games for each of his first eight season. He also consistently was a 12,00 yard receiver and found the end zone on numerous occasions.

Roddy White will once again be a terrific fantasy option as he is currently coming off the board as the 25th receiver and 56th player overall per myfantasyleagues.com. White allows owners to wait on wide receiver and still find talent in the fifth or sixth round. Owners can also load up on receiver and have White as a superb flex option, especially in PPR formats. While Roddy White is no longer a top 10 receiver, he is a strong number two receiver. He allows owner to grab an elite tight end or a second running back in prior rounds and build a strong core. Currently Larry Fitzgerald, Sammy Watkins, and Percy Harvin are some of the names coming off of the board before White. I would take White over all of theses guys. White like many veterans are often overlooked for players with more perceived upside. While White may no longer have top five upside, he also has a lower floor. He allows owners to take a more risky player at another spot. Stability is key to sustaining a strong team on a week to week basis.

The return of White will help the value of his teammates as well. Matt Ryan will have two dynamic weapons to choose from. With defenses unable to lock in on one side of the field, Ryan should have opportunities to take advantage of mismatches in coverage. Not only does Ryan benefit from 4 more years of White, but Julio Jones does as well. Julio Jones has surpassed Roddy White as the teams elite receiver in recent years but White’s presence makes a tremendous impact on how defenses game plan for the Falcons.  White and Jones on the outside should help the Falcons rush attack as well. The Falcons will see more six and seven man fronts for Steven Jackon and Devonta Freeman. The Falcons offense should bounce back this season, giving fantasy owners a plethora of fantasy goodness to utilize.
