DeSean Jackson Released – Where Will He Land?

Oh boy.

Ah yes, the fast, outspoken, “don’t want another Aaron Hernandez” , potentially gang-related, DeSean Jackson was released.

Jackson, the former Philadelphia Eagle is probably the most valuable deep threat in all of football.

Last season, he posted career highs in everything. He caught 82 balls for 1,332 yards and 9 TDs.

Soon after his release, a half-dozen teams, per Adam Schefter, reached out to Jackson’s agent. What teams are they? Who could be interested?

I have a list of three teams and a dark-horse that could fit DeSean Jackson. Ready?

1. Kansas City Chiefs ($4.6M under cap) – Some contract restructuring or cheap deal for Jackson would need to happen for him to fit here. But, the Chiefs do have a Head Coach by the name of Andy Reid who drafted him 6 years ago. Reports have said they have a “father-son relationship”. A tandem of Dwayne Bowe and DeSean Jackson would be nightmarish to say the least.

2. New York Jets ($28.6M under cap) – Ah, the Jets. Oh yes. This team has signed WR Eric Decker and QB Michael Vick this off-season. Why not DeSean? They have the cap number and a friend of Jackson in Michael Vick. If you look, Michael Vick’s favorite target when he was in Philly was in fact Jackson. Vick throwing to Decker and Jackson would be exciting to say the least. Who does want to see a Decker, Jackson vs. Browner, Revis duel twice a year?

3. Oakland Raiders ($14.6M under cap) – The Raiders appear to be aiming high this year. They’ve traded for QB Matt Schaub, and have signed WR James Jones and RB Maurice Jones-Drew. Adding Jackson would give Matt Schaub a true deep threat. Reggie McKenzie – where you at?

DARK HORSE ALERT: Buffalo Bills ($14M under cap) – Why not? A lot of mock draft have them taking Texas A&M WR Mike Evans. Why not Jackson? EJ Manuel needs weapons. Robert Woods and Stevie Johnson will not cut it. An offensive arsenal of Stevie Johnson, Scott Chandler, Robert Woods and CJ Spiller along with EJ Manuel’s running ability would make the Buffalo Bills offense very intriguing.
