Samuel Eto’o, Chelsea – Forward

Eto’o was forced into action today after being set to start the match against Tottenham on the bench. After Fernando Torres left warm ups with an apparent groin injury, Eto’o was called upon for the start in his place and took full advantage. The two sides went scoreless until the 56th minute until Eto’o intercepted an errant pass from Spurs defender Jan Vertenghen to net the first goal of the match. The goal essentially opened up the scoring for the home side who took a 4-0 result to push their lead at the top of the table to seven points.
