When it comes to fantasy sport of any kind it always pays to be prepared and as part of our comprehensive EPL coverage here at fakepigskin.com we will bring you the latest updates on the injuries & suspensions that affect your fantasy line ups for the coming game week. Be it updating you on long term injuries or letting you know when someone might be making a surprising return to action we will aim to keep you up to date with all the latest injury news. We will also aim to provide you with advice on whether you should sell or hold those freshly injured guys and whether someone who is returning from injury is worth the risk in your starting line-up. The most popular format of the fantasy EPL game is a salary cap version and therefore for the rest of this season this injury news will be exclusively targeted at that version.

Updated Teams: 28.02.14 @ 5pm ET: Everton, West Ham, Fulham, Chelsea, Hull City, Newcastle, Stoke, Arsenal, Southampton, Norwich, Swansea, Crystal Palace, Tottenham and Cardiff City

In week 28 we only have 8 games due to the League Final between Sunderland and Manchester City. The four teams not in action are Manchester City, Manchester United, Sunderland and West Brom

Quick note: Man City & Sunderland do not play in week 29 either so if you have transfers to burn in week 28 it is definitely worth your time to replace them for people who will give you points. (Chelsea, West Ham, Fulham, Hull, Stoke, Southampton, Norwich & Tottenham all play twice in that period with the other 10 teams playing once)

Everton vs West Ham 01.03.14 @ 10am Eastern Time (3pm GMT)

Everton Injuries:

Alcaraz (Muscle Fatigue) Expected return: 01.03.14: Looks good to go this week but it is unlikely he features this weekend so don’t add him

Lukaku (Ankle/Foot) 01.03.14: Lukaku could probably have returned last week but he was banned from playing his parent club (Chelsea). Everton need goals and he is the man to provide them so don’t be surprised if he starts this weekend especially against a big physical team like West Ham. 100% good to go so keep an eye out for his name on the team sheet.

Oviedo (Hamstring) Return unknown: For now you can clear him off your roster but keep an eye out for his return because he is an interesting player

Traore (Hamstring) Return unknown: Traore hasn’t played a minute of football since arriving from Monaco on January and now won’t be playing for at least a month and half so if you were thinking of adding him then don’t.

Kone (Back) May 2014, Gibson (Knee) May 2014: Clear these guys off your roster if you haven’t already.

Jagielka (Hamstring) 15.03.14: An injury that became apparent as the week went on and will cause him too miss at least this week. Fortunately Everton have a week off next week so it should just be one week. I would if you have other injured players move them first and put Jags 0 on the bench. If you are injury free everywhere else then by all means drop him for a couple of weeks

West Ham injuries:

Borriello (Hamstring) 08.03.14: Add this guy to your watch list because West Ham need to score more goals and they brought him in in January for just that reason

Vaz Te (Hamstring) Return unknown, O’Brien (Dislocated Shoulder) 19.04.14: Out long enough for you to definitely drop them if you haven’t already

Demel (Illness) 75% chance 01.03.14: Tough to call right now so if you can drop him for a defender with a better match up and who is sure to play.

Fulham vs Chelsea 01.03.14 @ 10am ET (3pm GMT)

Fulham Injuries: Briggs (Groin/Pelvis) Return unknown: Not much to say here as he isn’t a fantasy names. If you own him drop him and probably get your head checked while you’re at it!

Amorebieta (Muscle) 08.03.14: Has had periods with a run of games but isn’t a big enough feature for you to own him. If you do however, just drop him and forget him until he plays more regularly.

Duff (Knock) 08.03.14: Has been an unreliable bit pat player this year so not worth holding onto if you own him.

Mitroglou (Lack of Match Fitness) 08.03.14: Got the week off to get his fitness back. Could have an interesting part to play for the rest of the season but for now drop him.

Chelsea Injuries:

Mikel (Knock) Return unknown, Oscar (Knock) Return unknown: Both made an appearance from the bench Wednesday against Galatasaray suggesting they are pretty much fit. Of the two Oscar is really the only one that should be owned.

Luiz (Hip/Thigh) 01.03.14: Travelled to Turkey but wasn’t deemed fit enough to make the bench. May get a chance if fit after Terry and Cahill played Wednesday but isn’t really worth holding onto.

Van Ginkel (ACL) 19.04.14: Van Ginkel is a write off for most of this season and shouldn’t be on your roster

Hull City vs Newcastle 01.03.14 @ 10am ET (3pm GMT)

Hull City Injuries:

Brady (Groin/Pelvis) 01.03.14: Should be back Saturday but probably won’t play 90 minutes this week so probably not worth a pick up

McShane (Ankle/Foot) Return unknown: Definitely won’t feature this week. Drop if you own

Dudgeon (Knee) 01.03.14: Is unlikely to contribute even if full fit so don’t pick up

Huddlestone (Knock) 01.03.14: Seems to be fit and after missing out on the England squad will have a point to prove

Bruce (Knock) 01.03.14: The doubt from mid week seems to have cleared up but it is unlikely he plays this week so don’t pick up

Newcastle Injuries:

Ben Arfa (Knock) 15.03.14: Has been ruled out and won’t play until their next game on the 15th. Drop

Coloccini (Knee) 15.03.14: Not expected for a couple of weeks due to personal reasons. Drop

Tiote (Hamstring) 01.03.14: Has been upgraded to fit and should feature. Not sure he gets you enough points for you to own him though.

Santon (Knee) 01.03.14: Is expected to be available for Saturday but that has not been confirmed

Obertan (Knee) Return Unknown: Appears to have been ruled out for Saturday. Drop

Bigirimana (Ankle/Foot) 01.03.14: Fit for Saturday but hasn’t featured all season. Don’t pick up

Ryan Taylor (ACL) Return unknown: Likely out for the season so drop and forget about for now

Stoke City vs Arsenal 01.03.14 @ 10am ET (3pm GMT)

Stoke Injuries:

Assaidi (Knee) Return unknown: Out for the foreseeable future and is therefore droppable

Huth (Knee) 08.03.14: Appears to have been ruled out this week. Drop if you have the transfers but Stoke do play next week so not a desperate drop.

Walters (Illness) 75% for Saturday: Even if on the pitch he may not be 100% and even when he has been he’s barely been fantasy relevant. Drop

Odemwingie (Calf) 75% for Sat.: Don’t rush out and grab him but if you own him stick him on the bench.

Arsenal Injuries:

Gibbs (Hamstring) 01.03.14: With Monreal also in doubt for Saturday if he is healthy he should play. Has been listed 50/50 and Arsenal do not play next week so drop if you have the transfers.

Vermaelen (Calf/shin) 01.03.14: Hasn’t contributed much this season but with Koscielny dinged up as well he could be returning the heart of defence. Has been upgraded to fit and could sneak in with the three defensive injuries.

Ozil (Hip/Thigh) 01.03.14: Upgraded to fit and don’t be surprised if he starts.

Wilshere (Hamstring) Return unknown, Monreal (Ankle/foot) 01.03.14, Koscielny (Back) 01.03.14: All 75% for Saturday so make sure you check back for the latest news

Kallstrom (Back) Return unknown: Hasn’t played a game since arriving in January and shouldn’t be on fantasy squads yet

Walcott (ACL) return unknown, Diaby (ACL) Return unknown: Out for season and should be dropped if owned

Ramsey (Thigh muscle) 22.03.14: Struggling to recover so cut ties for now

Southampton vs Liverpool 01.03.14 @ 12.30pm ET (5.30pm GMT)

Southampton Injuries:

Hooiveld (Eye) 01.03.14: Is expected back this week but with everyone fit it’s unlikely he features Saturday so I wouldn’t bother picking him up.

Wanyama (Knock) 75% for Saturday: Will likely play but he rarely scores. Drop

Liverpool Injuries:

Lucas Leiva (MCL) 15.03.14: There has been talk of him returning but that appears to be pushed back a couple of weeks. Leave him out there because even when he does play he doesn’t score/assist consistently enough to be fantasy relevant.

Sakho (Hamstring) 01.03.14: There is talk he will be returning this Saturday but don’t pick him yet. Instead keep an eye on him for next week when he should be starting.

Enrique (Knee) Return unknown: Enrique is out for the foreseeable future so ensure he is out of your team.

Aston Villa vs Norwich 02.03.14 @ 11.30am ET (4.30pm GMT)

Aston Villa Injuries:

Kozak (Broken Leg) Return unknown, N’Zogbia (Achilles) Return unknown, Okore (ACL) 01.03.14: All are out for the foreseeable future and shouldn’t be on any fantasy squads.

Herd (Hamstring) Return unknown: Herd is 50/50 for this week but he shouldn’t be on your team even if healthy.

Bertrand (Illness) 02.03.14: Appears to have recovered but its questionable if he will be 100%. Norwich haven’t scored many goals so a clean sheet may be on the cards.

Westwood (Leg) 02.03.14: Upgraded to playing this weekend but there are better players available for the same price that are also safer so I’d be looking to drop him if I own him.

Norwich Injuries:

Fer (Hamstring) 08.03.14: Best fantasy midfielder on Norwich’s squad but if you have the transfer available then drop him

Gutierrez (Calf/shin) 02.03.14: Gutierrez was brought in on loan in January so if he’s healthy he should see some playing time but I doubt it will be enough for your fantasy squad so leave him well alone.

R.Bennett (Hip/Thigh) 02.03.14: Has been deemed fit and with Villa’s attack having struggled a clean sheet may be in the offing. Yobo and Bassong will likely pair in defence though so dont rush to grab him.

Turner (Hamstring) 15.03.14: Should be back and potentially starting in a week’s time but don’t pick him up.

E.Bennett (Knee) 29.03.14: Should be back by the end of the month and shouldn’t be owned on any roster

Howson (Back) 02.03.14: Howson is 75% for this week and was on the bench against Tottenham but he isn’t a big goal scorer so shouldn’t be on your fantasy squad.

Swansea vs Crystal Palace 02.03.14 @ 11.30am ET (4.30pm GMT)

Swansea Injuries:

Shelvey (Hamstring) 02.03.14, Davies (Calf/Shin) 02.03.14: Davies has been deemed fit and should start but Shelvey is still 75% right now. I wouldn’t pick either up if I needed a replacement and I would bench Shelvey if I owned him.

Bartley (Hamstring) 02.03.14: Another 75% guy but is not fantasy relevant so leave him well alone.

Monk (Knee) 02.03.14: Should be back this weekend but he hasn’t played all year so it’s unlikely he will now

Michu (Ankle) Return unknown: 50/50 for this week and at most will be a cameo bench appearance. Drop

Pozuelo (Hip/Thigh) 02.03.14: Deemed fit and may see playing time with all the midfield injuries but I wouldn’t be rushing to grab him.

Britton (Knee) 75% for Saturday: Unlikely they will risk him with plenty of other option available and healthier.

Dyer (Foot) 75% for Saturday: Could be risked with the week off next week but why take that risk when they don’t play next week anyway? Drop.

Crystal Palace Injuries:

Thomas (Back) 02.03.14: Passed fit but likely will not play so don’t pick him up.

Tottenham vs Cardiff City 02.03.14 @ 11.30am (4.30pm GMT)

Tottenham Injuries:

Walker (Hip) 02.03.14: Still 75% so keep and bench as they are playing next week.

Kaboul (Calf) 02.03.14, Rose (Knee) 02.03.14, Capoue (Ankle) 02.03.14: All three are also 75% to be playing this week but aren’t quite the fantasy stars Walker is so if you own them Id drop them and pick up someone with a better chance of playing.

Sigurdsson (Hip) Return unknown: He is very much 50/50 this week and with all the midfield options they have its unlikely they risk him so drop him and grab someone fantasy relevant for at least this week.

Sandro (Calf) 02.03.14: Should return this week and he is one of the players Tottenham could really do with getting back. However, Spurs are unlikely to give him a full 90 minutes so don’t pick him up this week.

Lamela (Thigh) Return unknown, Chiriches (Back) Return unknown: Both guys are out for at least the next couple of weeks so drop and replace them.

Cardiff City Injuries:

Mutch (Hamstring) 02.03.14: Passed fit and should play. Cheap option in a team playing next week as well. Hold onto him but don’t rush to pick him up.

Hudson (Hamstring) Return unknown, Medel (Thigh) Return unknown: Hudson is essentially a non-factor when picked so its unlikely he’s owned anyway. Medel however, is a factor and has been upgraded to 50/50 but if I had a choice between him or the cheaper Mutch I would take Mutch.

So there are your injury concerns for week 28 in the premier league as they stand at 5pm ET Friday. Obviously if you play on a website where line ups lock at 6.30am ET Saturday then any of the players mentioned as potential returns for Sunday are unlikely to have had decisions made so it might be safer to drop them and get in someone who is more likely to play.
