Daily Fantasy Basketball Notes 2/10

We head into an All-Star break shortened week coming off a strange Sunday. The Pistons, coming off two straight impressive wins, fire their coach. The Clippers lay a 45 point thumping on the 76ers. Kevin Durant falls an assist short of a triple double, and Mason Plumlee was the 5th highest DS scorer with 44.75 points !!

Tonight sees six games on the schedule. Our beloved 76ers return to action, as they travel north to the Bay Area to face the Warriors. This game has the highest total on the board at 213, but you have to be aware of the blowout factor here of course.  Next up is the Rockets/T’Wolves game where HOU is currently a 5 point favorite with an O/U of 208.  Waiting on lots of injury news as well, for Kevin Love, David Lee, Andrew Bogut to name a few.  We know so far that Ty Lawson and Rajon Rondo are OUT tonight.   On to some selections:

Note: salaries I use are from Draft Street

Steph Curry, GS ($20,999)- If you’re going with Steph, hopefully Philly can keep it kind of close so he plays over 30 minutes.  Even if not, as Blake Griffin proved last night, you can get plenty of fantasy points in a short time vs. the 76ers.  A team total of 113.5 leaves plenty of points and assists (and 3’s depending on your site) for Curry to fill it up for you.

Dwight Howard, HOU ($19,101)- If you don’t want to spend on Curry, then Howard can be an option tonight at a center position I am not in love with.  D-12 is on one of his upward swings with 50.5 and 49.75 DS points his last two times out.  Ronny Turiaf doesn’t frighten you as a defender so Howard should have his way inside tonight.

Kyle Lowry, TOR ($15,582)- This is a game Toronto is favored by 7 in.  I like taking PG in games they should win.  Not brain surgery, if you’re winning towards end of the game and you’re the PG, you’re likely to add on some cheap FT and points to your DFS total.  Lowry helps out in all areas and should have his way with Brian Roberts tonight.

Randy Foye, DEN ($13,347)- Foye takes over the point guard duties for Denver tonight with Ty Lawson out.  He has been pretty hot lately, averaging close to 31 DS points over his last six contests.  Indiana is the top defensive team in the league, but one place where they have been susceptible is against opposing PG’s, where they are bottom 10 in fantasy points against.

Terrence Jones, HOU ($11,891)- Jones sees his price plummet after a disastrous performance in Milwaukee Saturday night.  The less than 12K price seems ripe for the picking tonight in the expected higher end scoring affair in Minnesota.  Not a bad value play.

Khris Middleton, MIL ($11,532)- Middleton’s price jump takes him out of the “cheapskates” section, but I am going to stick with him.  Like most of you, I don’t like taking Bucks, but he has been too good to me the last three games, averaging over 30 DS pts per.  He continues to see solid court time with Caron Butler out , and if Ersan Ilyasova sits again, I like Middleton as a must play against a Boston team struggling vs. the 3 spot lately.

CHEAPSKATES-  Some value players listed at less than 10% ($10,000) of your bankroll.

Dante Cunningham, MIN ($9,147)- One where you’ll have to pay close attention to the injury news, as this play hinges on whether Kevin Love goes or not tonight.  In the two games K-Love has missed, Cunningham has averaged 16 points, 9 boards, 2 blocks and 2 steals, with 41 minutes per.

Jerryd Bayless, BOS ($7,934)- With Rajon Rondo sitting out this one, Bayless takes on a bigger role.  Phil Pressey has been seeing the starts when Rondo sits, but pure and simple, Bayless is a better fantasy option.  In the four games he’s played with Boston where he has seen over 25 minutes, Bayless is averaging 12.5 points, 3.5 assists and 2 steals per game.

Corey Brewer, MIN ($8,316)- Brewer has seen his role expanded for Minnesota lately.  His last 4 games ( He missed one for the birth of his child) has seen him average almost 36 minutes of court time.  With Kevin Martin out tonight, Brewer should be counted on to be more of a scorer, especially so if Kevin Love sits.  He is going to be heavily owned tonight.

Zaza Pachulia, MIL ($9,917)- I thought I said earlier that I hate Buck players.  Oh well.  After missing nearly 2 months with a fractured foot, Pachulia has seen his minutes rise in each game back, culminating with 29 Saturday vs. Houston.  Larry Sanders left that game just 4 minutes in and is questionable tonight.  Either way, I like Zaza as a decent value play, and really like him if Sanders sits.  He seems to be a Larry Drew favorite, and has put up 22.25, 22.5 and 32 DS points in his last three.  Not a bad play if you’re punting center tonight.

Some other thoughts:  Denver has named Quincy Miller the starter at SG tonight with Foye moving to PG and Lawson out.  This takes the shine off Evan Fournier somewhat for tonight’s tough game in Indiana.  I’m somewhat hoping Fournier has a bomb tonight so his price drops for a nice match up Wednesday in Minnesota.

It’s tough to gauge how the Pistons react after the Mo Cheeks firing.  Brandon Jennings, Josh Smith and Andre Drummond have been three of the hottest fantasy plays around, but its a tough spot, especially against San Antonio tonight.  All three have seen dramatic increases in price and I’m inclined to not roster them tonight and see how it unfolds.

Good luck tonight, any questions or comments, hit me up on twitter @bsteinhause, and be sure to follow the @Fakeroundball crew: @RSandersFR, @SaidHeHadAStory and @patsfever24.
