AFC South Week 12 Fantasy Preview

We get the battle for the bottom in the AFC South! Jags at Texans! Great…..I don’t know if there’s a game this week this week that I wouldn’t watch over this one. Tennessee heads into Oakland…..another rockin’ matchup! Okay okay, there’s at least one good one. Indy heads into Arizona with a sweet story line – Arians facing his former team for the first time since leaving them….last year. Anyways that probably sounded super bitter haha, but I just don’t like poor games even if they happen all the time. Let’s get into it.

Jacksonville at Houston

Tough to like either QB in this match up. Henne passed for a decent amount of yards last week against the Cards, but his turnovers don’t help his cause. Can’t trust him to have a big game and let’s face it, there’s a lot of QBs out there you’d be better of starting. Moving to Keenum, he does have a very nice match up, but he also had that last week and failed. Tough to trust him, but Palmer torched this defense last week for 419 yards and 2 TDs, so there is some promise. He’s more of a streaming option than an every week starter.

Ben Tate has a really nice match up this week against the Jags who are the worst in the league on a rushing yards per game basis on defense  and have given up 15 rushing TDs this season. He’s the clear workhorse back in the running game and had some work in the passing game. MJD had yet another poor performance last week against the Cards and saved his week by getting a short score. Rashad Jennings busted an 80 yard run against this defense last week, but other than that had a mediocre game. I feel like Houston will be ahead in this game, so MJD doesn’t have a lot of value.

I don’t think there’s a Jacksonville pass catcher that you can trust. Cecil Shorts was the only one, but he’s had a down couple of weeks. I can’t recommend starting him or any other Jags WR. Moving to the Texans, it looks like the only guys worth a damn on Houston are Andre Johnson and Garrett Graham. Andre has been fairly consistent week to week this year with the exception of a couple bad weeks. He’s a locked in WR1. Garrett Graham slumped for 5 weeks and so I say not to bother with him and then he makes me look like an idiot. Thanks Garrett. He looks like he might be the #2 option on this team now, as DeAndre Hopkins had just 2 targets last week.

Tennessee at Oakland

Fitzpatrick had a decent week last week and has a very good match up this week. Going up the 25th best pass defense who has given up 19 passing TDs this year – he could have a very nice week. Solid option if you’re desperate at QB or employ a streaming strategy.

CJ2K had a great first half last week and then disappeared against Indy. Fortunate for his owners, he had 2 TDs in that first half. Just 18 touches last week – I think you can expect more if you have him. Oakland gave up 4.6 yards per carry last week to an injured Ben Tate, so I like CJ2K a lot this week. He should have a nice week. Wow, apparently Tennessee isn’t that much of a fantasy wasteland after all.

Delanie Walker had a nice week last week – lead the team in receptions and receiving yards (along with 2nd in targets) and had the lone score of the receivers. Garrett Graham absolutely crushed this defense last week, so I expect Walker to do the same. A nice option at TE if you’re unhappy with your current TE. Kendall Wright continues to do Kendall Wright things (9 catches for 80 yards) so that will continue. I think he finds the end zone in this game and finishes at least as a WR2.

Indianapolis at Arizona

Andrew Luck should have a nice game this week against the Cards. Chad Henne threw for 255 and a TD (2 INTs as well) against this defense – so I expect Luck to do much better, you know because he’s about 8000 times better than Henne. Arizona is not strong against the pass (20th in the league) and has given up 18 TDs this year through the air. Start Luck.

Trent Richardson doesn’t have a lot of value this week – Arizona is 2nd against the run and has only given up 4 rushing TDs all year. They held MJD to 23 yards last week (I know I know its MJD) and Trent has a slight resemblance to MJD in the fact that he sucks this year. If you’re in a PPR league Trent could be a decent flex play – he finally got involved in the passing game last week. MJD scored a short TD to save his week, so Trent always has that potential as well. Donald Brown looks to be getting more of the carries out of the two, but again its a really tough defense so I wouldn’t recommend starting him (or Trent for that matter).

TY Hilton had a tough week last week and it doesn’t get any easier this week as he goes against Patrick Peterson. I think TY Hilton you have to start, but I would temper expectations with him. Maybe a low end WR2 or high end WR3. Coby Fleener finally did what we’ve all been waiting for. He lead the team last week in targets, receptions and yards and he’s going up against a team that gave up a huge TD to Danny Noble (a Tight End) last week and the team that let Jared Cook crush them in Week 1. He has TE1 potential this week for sure.
