With Minny, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay and Washington on byes in Week 5, dont be caught sleeping when it comes to this week’s waiver wire.

Quarterbacks

MUST ADD

Bryan Hoyer, Cleveland Browns

Owned in 1.2% of ESPN Leagues

Week 4 Stats: 269 yards passing, 2 touchdowns

After two 18-point weeks, could it be that the Browns are actually putting something together?

Matt Cassel, Minnesota Vikings

Owned in 0.7% of ESPN Leagues

Week 4 Stats: 248 yards passing, 2 touchdowns

Is Cassel an exciting player? No. Will he do the job as a cheap, bye-week replacement? Yes. Who knows, maybe he keeps the job going forward and adds a little value to your bench. Cassel is on bye, so you can even look to pick him up next Tuesday.

AVOID

Ryan Fitzpatrick – Despite TEN QB Jake Locker sidelined for 6-8 weeks, Fitzpatrick isnt worth a roster spot except as a flyer in the deepest of leagues.

Matt Flynn – Flynn is doing what he does best; keeping the seat warm as the starter prepares to come back.

Running Backs

MUST ADD

Rashad Jennings, Oakland Raiders

Owned in 0.9% of ESPN leagues

Week 4 Stats: 15/45 rushing and 8/71 receiving

With Darren McFadden injuried again, Jennings should get plenty of run in Oakland.

Danny Woodhead, San Diego Chargers

Owned in 0.9% of ESPN leagues

Week 4 Stats: Week 4 Stats: 5/32 rushing and 5/54/2 receiving

San Diego has proven these first four games that they can score with the best of them (#7 in points per game) and Woodhead looked sharp in Week 4.

Roy Helu, Washington

Owned in 0.9% of ESPN leagues

Week 4 Stats: 13/41/1 rushing and 2/43 receiving

Alfred Morris’ (rib) pain was Helu’s gain in Week 4 and Roy is worth a quick pickup to see if that continues in the near term.

Wide Receivers

MUST ADD

Nate Washington, Tennessee Titans

Owned in 17.2% of ESPN leagues

Week 4 Stats: 4 catches for 105 yards and 2 touchdowns (8 targets)

With Locker out, Fitzpatrick will need a steady target and Washington appears to be that player.

Robert Woods, Buffalo Bills

Owned in 4.8% of ESPN Leagues

Week 4 Stats: 4 catches for 80 yards and a touchdown.

With teams #1 cornerback zoning in on teammate Stevie Johnson, Woods will have plenty of opportunities to touch the football.

Jerricho Cotchery, Pittsburgh Steelers

Owned in 0.3% of ESPN Leagues

Week 4 Stats: 5 catches for 103 yards and a touchdown

OK, so 16 points scored in Week 4 is great and all, but Cotchery hasnt been too shabby the other three weeks either, scoring 9, 9 and 5. No game for him in Week 5, but would be a nice add if you have the roster space.

Josh Gordon will be suspended for the entire season

The year long suspension for Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon has been upheld per multiple media reports. The potential for a reduced suspension seemed somewhat realistic with a delay in decision on his appeal. The Browns offense will take a huge hit without him. Owners in dynasty leagues may want to make a move for Gordon who has number one wide receiver upside. The price will never be lower than after with this news.

Brian Hoyer named starter over Johnny Manziel

The Cleveland Browns have named Brain Hoyer their starting quarterback for week one. This may or may not be a shock to everyone. Johnny Manziel will likely start at some point this season. When that it happens depends on how well Hoyer and the Browns do to begin the season. Hoyer helped Josh Gordon and Jordan Cameron be fantasy stars last season. Manziel taking over shouldn’t hurt the pass catchers in this offense.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Charles Sims will undergo Surgery

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Charles Sims will undergo surgery on the ankle he injured in practice. Sims is expected to be out for 12-14 weeks. This should be good news for Doug Martin owners, as Sims seemed the likely contender to carries in Tampa Bay. Bobby Rainey, Mike James and Jeff Demps are all vying for carries as well. Sims could be a worth add from the waiver wire depending on how the early part of the season goes.

Charlie Austin, QPR – FWD

In a match that saw Loic Remy withdrawn from the teamsheet in anticipation of  move to Chelsea, the Rangers got all they needed from Austin to pick up the 1-0 victory over Sunderland. Last time QPR were in the PL during the 2012/13 season, they didn’t get their first win until December. Austin, into the starting XI for the departing Remy, netted the match-winner in first half extra time when he finished from close range after a QPR corner. Austin led the club in goals last season with 20 and should see increased time with the Remy departure. Source: bbc.com

Gylfi Sigurdsson, Swansea City – MID

The Swans continued their hot start to the season, defeating West Bromwich Albion at Liberty Stadium on Saturday, moving to the top of the Table. Sigurdsson is now up to four assists on the season, good enough for tops in the league. The four assists also matches the total that he managed in 58 PL appearances for the Spurs. Nathan Dyer picked up a brace while Wayne Routledge volleyed a brilliant ball into the back of the net for one of his own. Saturday’s victory gave Swansea their first three match win streak in their PL history. Source: bbc.com

Tom Heaton, Burnley – GKP

The Clarets goalkeeper turned aside the only shot he face from the visiting Manchester United on Saturday to help his squad earn a 0-0 draw. United dominated the possession at times, but home side had their chances. Unable to capitalize on any of those chances and take advantage of United’s lackluster start to the season, Burnley settled for their 1st point on the season. The clean sheet happens to be only Burnley’s fourth in their Premiere League history, while two of those have come against United. Source: @OptaJoe
